Game starts in 30 minutes and I have a question: Page 21 of the quick start; NPC Downtime. It says to advance the project clocks of the factions you’re interested it. By how much, and how many clocks? All clocks related to a faction advance one tick, or choose one per faction?

I’m sorry, but for some reason I thought we were encourged to post in Story Games.

I’m sorry, but for some reason I thought we were encourged to post in Story Games. I played one time before this, as a player, while not good I really fell in love with the game! Hopefully I’ll get to play more in that story, as the characters were quite interesting.

Is there an idea or material for a con demo? I plan to offer Blades in the Dark at Nordcon in Hamburg.

A question: the game informs me that it is best practice to not keep secrets from the players (for very long at least), but rather find excuses to reveal the plot points. Therefor, I feel that if there is some nefarious party working against the players it should be represented by a clock, and not simply sprung on the players. Clocks are put on the table for all to see, there is no such thing as a private or GM only clock to my knowledge. The title of a clock could be a spoiler (ex: “The Lost: Tracking you to your lair”).

I’m leaning towards using as vague a title as possible for my clocks, (ex: “The Lost: scouting in retaliation “) but the impression I’m getting is that I should fully explain up front what will  happen when a clock runs out. What is in the spirit of the game? For my players, what would you prefer?

I’m having trouble importing the full city Duskwall map to roll20, anyone else have this problem / have a fix?

I’ll be streaming Blades in the Dark at 6pm eastern on twitch.tv/trustyfish (probably a bit later than that once tech gets sorted)  This will be the second streamed session, I think it’s the 4th session of the campaign, but the first couple sessions were pretty light, so it shouldn’t be too hard to keep up.

For other time zone people it’ll be 7.5 hours after this post!

Doing a little reading to get into the mood of Duskwall, and stumbled across this – a list of businesses from Dishonored. Might be handy for scores or even a little inspiration.

So I’ve come up with a harebrained scheme!

So I’ve come up with a harebrained scheme!

I’ve made my own Brainstormer wheels for Blades and am gonna get in some solo gaming using them as a GM emulator, plus a magic 8 ball app for more specific stake questions not answered by dice (avoiding the Czege principle as best I can).

I hope to follow the rule as written as a sort of playtest and GMing practice. I’ve made my main protagonist – a Hound (ex Skovish Whaler) named Thorn Egil – primarily because I want to Express my character’s flaws, obsessions, secrets, or shortcomings

That’s the way I hope to frame scenes… Chasing the Hound XP triggers HARD. Should be fun

Welcome to a Liar’s Gazetteer of Duskwall! Here are musings and observations from my mind’s eye of our favorite industrial fantasy city. Originally started in my Maps thread, I’ve moved it here to its own thread, where the original posts will be re-presented, along with completely new content. As always, use, abuse, ignore as you will!
