We have started doing playbook advancement questions before the embodiment decision.  Since they are more concrete, they’re a good way to remind us what happened in the previous session before trying to figure out what action group the character embodied.

Just something to think about, might be a good reorganization for other groups as well.

Multiple Characters:

It’s implied in a few places that playing multiple characters is supported in BitD (the “lost” overindulgence) or having a communal character or pool of characters that can be played by anyone.

How does that apply to advancement?  My first instinct was to say that characters advance for the sessions that they are played in.  But one of my players asked me some difficult questions:

1. What about if you play two characters at different parts of the session?

2. What about the “personal training time” advancement option?  The name implies that characters should get it even if they aren’t being played.

Maybe this is obvious, but I had a thought about what a deal between two criminal organizations would go down like.  Like a sale of some contraband for example.

Since both groups have no respect for the law, I think what allows these deals to happen functionally is a feeling of mutually assured destruction.  Both groups come with enough firepower to ensure that the losses from a fight breaking out are greater than the potential gains of stealing the other party’s part of the deal.

The other way this could go down would be that the political damage between powerful criminal factions, and to your group’s reputation as a business partner creates enough pressure to keep the deal mostly on the level.

Either way it seems like a good thing to think about, as sort of a feeling to impress on the game about the kinds of situations these sorts of criminal organizations would get into.

Crops……   So.

Crops……   So.

Crops……   So.. with the sun being how it is in Duskwall… how do you guys like to envision crops?  I’m mostly on board with the “don’t expect realism here” line in the quickstart, but I still find it hard to envision plants living without sunlight.  So, how do you guys like to think about it?  Logistics brainstorming!

How do you view Duskwall?

How do you view Duskwall?

How do you view Duskwall?

I see it as sort of a combination of Gotham with ghosts, but I’ve been more focused on the city of crime angle than the haunted city angle, to the point that I haven’t actually seen a Whisper in any of the games I’ve played yet, and when I see other people post supernatural haunting things it usually feels a bit out of place to me, but of course there’s lots of ways to envision your Duskwall.

The Empire as a whole feels sort of like a lower-tech Warhammer 40k, not sure if anyone else has been getting that vibe..
