Does anyone know if people have made any form fillable or Google Sheets character and ship playbooks, and maybe also faction sheets, for Scum and Villainy, and where there might be found?

I made a little chart of the flow of the core mechanic, as I see it (specifically for Scum and Villainy but I think it’s the same for Blades). My goal was to lay out everyone’s responsibilities and the order in which they need to be fulfilled. Thought y’all might have feedback or enjoy it. It’s not the prettiest, but I think my first time players will find it helpful.

#BladesAgainstDarkness Turbo is coming! Here’s a preview of my weekend’s work. The game will be a stripped down version of Blades rules based on World of Blades by Duamn Figueroa. It will feature a gothic horror (Bloodborne/Ravenloft/Castlevania) theme and I hope to have it out in time for halloween!

New Iruvian Sword Arts

One of my groups has secured training from an Iruvian Sword Master. The Hound has made a deal with a demon and become adopted as foreign-born I’Yalim. We decided to develop a fighting style to fit the functions and powers of an I’Yalim. We borrowed a little from the move Tiger’s Fury out of Johnstone Metzger’s excellent Iruvian playbook: Faris.

SWEEPING WIND STYLE

[Adept] Falconer’s Scimitar: You may wield a heavy, broad-bladed scimitar favoured by the I’Yalim to punish the wicked and execute justice. The long handle of the scimitar can be wielded with a wide two-handed grip to create a whirling blade in close, where a sword is expected to be useless. Or it can be wielded with a close two-handed grip to use its sweeping length, allowing you to attempt to plow through the field of battle to any location you can see.

[Master] The Sweeping Wind: Your sword attacks involve acrobatic leaps with powerful sweeping slashes. When you make an attack in this way, choose a beneficial extra effect (this effect occurs regardless of the outcome of your action): The target’s armour is ruined—the target’s weapon is ruined—the target is knocked sprawling—the target is forced into someone where their limbs and lives become entangled.

I’ve got a rules question for Band of Blades.

A number of the Broken Abilities have the effect of allowing specific Elites to show up in any mission. This suggests to me that there exist some rules that normally regulate how often any Elites can show up, but I can’t find it anywhere.

Am I just missing these rules, or are they not there?

Just got the game and am excited to run a campaign with my group.

In the game I’m currently playing we’re a cult, and the cult leader wants to do that typical cult leader thing where you tell someone their secrets and then they think you are magic and join your cult. Except she wants it to be actual magic and not just having your underlings spy on people. So we brainstormed the skeleton of a special ability and I’ve got the responsibility of writing up a finished version so she can take it next time she gets a playbook advance.

Here’s what I’ve got so far, thought I’d post it here for y’all to look at. If you have any thoughts about it, let me know!

Eyes of a God, Voice of a Prophet

You can look past a person’s flesh and stare into their soul, divining some secret details that will frighten or impress them when your knowledge is revealed. Take 2 stress when you do this, plus 1 stress for each extra feature: their reaction lasts for hours or even days instead of mere moments—you divine secrets to provoke a different reaction (such as joy or sorrow)—you frighten or impress and entire crown, instead of just one person.

(I was also thinking maybe you could determine what sort of secrets were revealed, instead of picking a different emotion. Like, if you have some idea of something that a person is hiding, you could say that gets revealed. Learning secrets isn’t the primary focus of the ability though, it’s just a bonus and the point is to impress or frighten them so they become more susceptible to influence.)

Just finished a session of scum and villainy with some friends. We killed the henchmen of the target but they were outlaws. Do we still gain 2 heat for them dying? The book says “hegemonic citizens’ but I feel we should still gain heat for that

Had a pretty awesome first game.

Had a pretty awesome first game.

Had a pretty awesome first game. I have played twice and everybody else was new. So I ran the game and I have to say everybody jumped right in from the start. Like where do you all meet to plan, Seven Bones, a gambling den. Have you heard of any interesting scores? Player looks at the faction sheet. Did you guys hear about that weird craft the Dockers scavenged? Word is the Imperials are going to take it soon. So players jump into gathering info, find the drydock, and start the score! Players got to scavenge the craft, found a small quantity of Leviathans blood, a set of optics for seeing underwater, and plans for the specialized engine.

Went into another score afterwards to steal the spirit of the Wraith’s favorite fence which they used to blackmail the poor guy. So now they have their first claim!

Great game John Harper
