#BladesAgainstDarkness Turbo is coming!

#BladesAgainstDarkness Turbo is coming! Here’s a preview of my weekend’s work. The game will be a stripped down version of Blades rules based on World of Blades by Duamn Figueroa. It will feature a gothic horror (Bloodborne/Ravenloft/Castlevania) theme and I hope to have it out in time for halloween!

  1. Yeah, I learned a lot this weekend! This was about 20 hours of work and I I did lots of resarch into gothic motifs and I really like the result. It’s not professional quality, but I feel like my skills have come a long way.

  2. Arturs Leitans yup. It’s super stripped down. It’s intended for quick play at cons or a short series. Really Blades as a whole (including the existing beta for BAD) has a crap ton of tools for long term campaign play. The full version of BAD tries to replicate all those moving parts. This game is meant to make it easy to jump into the game and its systems. All the rest of the content can be easily bolted on if people want to keep playing after a session or three.

Like World of Dungeons, this is a bit of a magic trick. It makes a complex game with lots of moving parts look and feel seemless. If you like World of Dungeons but want a robust game with fully developed systems that’s called Dungeon World.

  3. Oh double drat Dylan Green, I’ll definitely have my eye out for this. Currently retooling my Gothic Fantasy house game from Vagabonds to a Blades-derived setup once I realized that Blades in the Dark is just our old friend, Inspectres! Likely to end up in a similar place to this if Turbo winds up anything like World of Dungeons, and what I can see here it looks like you are doing a great job of it. Thanks for the kick in the seat! Back to the keyboard!

  4. Dylan Green I’m not understanding something, I think; do the players choose which one Faction is their antagonist, and the other two aren’t in play? Does their crawl start in the chosen Faction’s hex?

  5. Lex Permann The players choose which of the factions they want to contend with to enter the dungeon. They may contend with them by bribing them and carrying their letter of marque or promising treasure or secrets relating to the faction’s goals. Or they might try and sneak in. Or they might try and fight their way in. If the faction is an “antagonist” or not really depends on how the players approach them.

Are the other ones off the table? No way. There is no reason that just because they entered through the Bitter Chalice’s territory it doesn’t mean that The Blackthorns can’t show up as enemies or allies.

Yes the crawl starts in the chosen faction’s hex.

Also minor updates to file. Cleaned up some errors.
