On page 49 it states: “Every time the crew advances, each PC gets +1 stash (+2 per crew Tier) as a bonus payment, to represent profits generated by the crew as they’ve been operating.”

Does this mean, every score the crew gets XP they get paid or every time the crew fills it’s XP bar and chooses an advancement they get paid?

I saw and downloaded the Vigilantes information update and crew sheet.

Which is a very cool addition to Blades in the Dark.

One main question: When are the Playbooks (character sheets) going to be added to the update’s section for Bluecoats, Inspectors, Spirit Wardens, Gargoyles, and Wolves??

Thanks!

As a follow up to my previous question, I’d love a thread about good arcane implements a Whisper might make.

One our Whisper made is shoe soles that muffle all sound, so you’re extra quiet. We use it mostly for positioning/effect, but I’m tempted to make it a special armor.

Otherwise, what have you all come up with?

I have a Whisper that took Strange Methods and is starting to make arcane items, charms, that sort of thing.

I have a Whisper that took Strange Methods and is starting to make arcane items, charms, that sort of thing. She wants to sell them, which I think makes sense. I was basically going to treat it as “Use a downtime action, make your roll, get coin equal to the Tier of the thing you make”, but I was wondering if people have other good ideas for how to run this? Ways to make it fun/bring more rolling into the mix?

I absolutely do not mind my characters having ways to crank out coin, there’s always something to spend it on so I’m not worried about that. But I do worry about making sure everything is fun and has consequence. I mean eventually I think the Spirit Wardens will come knocking, but before that, any fun ways to have a store?

Armor Clarifications

We’ve started playing Blades with some friends and have had some rule debates on armor. I guess my questions are basically this:

Light armor costs 2 load, heavy armor costs 3 loads, correct?

Is armor supposed to be entirely used up after a single resist? Is it supposed to remain?

Right now I’m finding it really, really odd that heavy knights armor is blown away by a couple punches even, so I’m not entirely sure we’re doing it right.

What, narratively, are the hunting grounds?

What, narratively, are the hunting grounds?

Tonight we launched a crew of shadows with a sabotage focus. They are united by anti-imperial sentiment. Their long term goal is to blow up the unity statue or some other such symbol. In the meantime, they’re going to blow up other things for whoever pays.

How should we think of their hunting grounds, then? They want to be operating in rich districts to take down imperial symbols, but as a tier 0 crew I, as GM, felt like it was wrong. But then I felt as though I was saying no to the idea at the table, and that felt worse. We agreed that we were really unclear about hunting grounds as they pertained to the mission of this crew, and we would appreciate guidance.

Thanks for any advice people can offer.

Question: Does Heavy Armor within the most recent edition of Blades cost 3 load points to carry, or 5 load points?

Question: Does Heavy Armor within the most recent edition of Blades cost 3 load points to carry, or 5 load points?

Question: Does Heavy Armor within the most recent edition of Blades cost 3 load points to carry, or 5 load points? The way I see it, you would add the three boxes of “+heavy” to the cost of regular armor, costing you a total of five. However, some of those I was playing with did not agree, insisting that heavy armor costs 3 load points, and that the heavy armor cost should not be added to the normal armor cost. I cannot find a definitive answer anywhere else, so clarification here would be appreciated.

Hey folks. Apologies if this has already been discussed, but I’ve got a question concerning payoff.

The crew just ran a social/stealth score to locate an unknown, powerful figure that had been causing a lot of trouble for their contacts and turf. The score went super well. Lots of terrifying moments, chase scenes, and new mysteries introduced.

Here’s the thing.

When we finished the score, I couldn’t come up with a good reason to give them coin. Their past several scores yielded huge profits which led to this situation in the first place. Various factions seeking revenge. So it was more of a preventative score in the first place. Which is why we all agreed it didn’t make sense to acquire coin.

So I guess the question is – is it cool not to reward coin when it doesn’t make sense in the fiction? Should I substitute new contacts, gear, turf, etc instead? Just curious what you all would recommend in this situation.

Could one crew have more than one reputation?

Could one crew have more than one reputation?

I mean, crew reputation as at page 93, not the REP you get when you complete successful scores. And I’m asking this because, at the end of each session, you get XP if you bolstered your crew’s reputation or developed a new one (page 49). Therefore, my question also is: do your new reputation replace the old one?
