I haven’t seen much on what people have been doing with The Horde, so I wanted to get some feedback on the ideas I have so far and crowd-source some interesting additions. So without further ado:

THE HORDE

Turf: Hidden grottos in the underground canals

NPCs: Brother & Sister–siblings in life, partners in undeath

Quirks: Brother and Sister are vampires who run a local Empty Vessel cult. The cultists believe them to be hollows animated by their forgotten god and speaking its will. The Empty Vessel accepts the charade because the vampires keep it supplied with a steady diet of sacrifices by ritually hollowing “the unclean,” a broad category that includes cultists seeking to purify themselves and enemies of the cult that need to be removed. Once a person is hollowed, the Empty Vessel has no further interest in what is left, allowing Brother and Sister to slowly accumulate an army of the un-living. They are able to command any hollow they have branded as a member of The Horde and all the hollows of The Horde count as having been ritually prepared to become vampires if possessed by either Brother or Sister, providing an enormous supply of disposable bodies and interchangeable personas for the vampires.

Allies: The Forgotten Gods

Enemies: The Gondoliers, The Spirit Wardens

Now here is the question, what is it that Brother & Sister desire? How do they exploit their power over the hollowed Horde?

Sean Nittner are you planning on updating the vigilantes playbook for the final release of the game? I’m planning on running a oneshot for some slightly less scoundrely friends soon and I think it would be perfect for them. Gonna break into Scurlock’s manor and disrupt some ancient magic.

After finding this out, I’m interpreting the Dimmer Sisters to be hoarders and people haven’t been able to get out of their house more because they got lost in there then the wards surrounding it. It takes more time to navigate the tunnels then should be possible, if you manage to follow the floor plans then rooms are found in places they shouldn’t be, the rats aren’t Doskvol rats, they aren’t Dagger Isle or imperial city rats either. There’s probably at least one leviathan that crawls through that mess, either that or the subtle sounds emanating from the house are all the spirits trapped inside.

Yes, there were (over) a thousand. Yes, G+ really sucks at auto-screening spam accounts. So it goes.

I’ve been looking at “victorian” era things, mixed with a bit of gothic steampunk?

Thinking of making a Fate/Stay Night Blades hack, replacing the playbooks with servant classes (Archer, Saber, Caster etc). The setting would be a Holy Grail War where 3 mages have joined forces to get their hands on the Grail and have summoned you, Heroic Spirits, to fight for their cause and to have your own wishes granted.

Players would base their character on a Myth/Legend/Historic Event/Future Hero, tell us about their Noble Phantasm, and tell us about their wish to give the Grail when they win.

Does anyone have any thoughts about how Blades might be adapted further for this?

I am a fairly new DM and i’m even newer to Blades in the Dark (My only prior game being Dungeon world, but I have watched people play for a few years on ItmeJP’s channel if you are familiar). I want to start learning the game’s systems and help my players (along with myself) learn the world/setting as well. To do this I want to have a couple of one shots, I was curious if anyone could give me any tips on one shots in general and more specifically for Blades. Thanks!
