After finding this out, I’m interpreting the Dimmer Sisters to be hoarders and people haven’t been able to get out of their house more because they got lost in there then the wards surrounding it. It takes more time to navigate the tunnels then should be possible, if you manage to follow the floor plans then rooms are found in places they shouldn’t be, the rats aren’t Doskvol rats, they aren’t Dagger Isle or imperial city rats either. There’s probably at least one leviathan that crawls through that mess, either that or the subtle sounds emanating from the house are all the spirits trapped inside.

So much yes to all of this. Real people’s lives are always so much more interesting than you imagine they might be. Horders? Sure. But the Collyer brothers were so much more.
