How do you guys do social situations/scores? I’ve had it happen twice now where the players go and negotiate services and offers for the other factions in return for claims rather than go and kick ass and take names. I’m fairly confident and competent about combat, sneaking, and everything else but I’m not sure what rolls to make in the situation and what kind of challenges to present for such a situation.

What do you guys think? Lend me your sage advice!

Hi everyone, does a recent FAQ has been uploaded somewhere ? I have a couple of question and i’m sure the majority can be cover by such document.

I’ll ask one of them anyway : what are the mechanical consequences for a extrem quality success (cannot find the answear in my pdf) does the mechanic was made to tick more than 3 segments on a clock ?

Hey guys, I had a question about turf, hunting grounds and map marking.

Hey guys, I had a question about turf, hunting grounds and map marking. So, when creating a crew, how much of the map do you GMs colour in to represent starting turf/hunting grounds, and, when do you expand the size of that colour for the crew. Just when they purchase more turf? Or more abstract than that throughout the game?

I just have no idea how to handle hunting grounds and turf. Thanks guys.

I am almost certain I’ve seen an answer to this, either in the book or on here, but I can’t find it – if a PC assists another PC with a downtime action, does that cost the assisting PC one of their actions? I think the answer is no, but wanted to be sure, since that would be a big delta on the number of available actions in the game. Thanks!

Load in downtime

During our last session, my character, Sparrow, ended a score against the Circle of the Flame and, in downtime, he went to his purveyor of vice, Madame Tesslyn (who is also his romantic interest), to indulge in it. But, since he had hunches about her being secretly part of the Circle of the Flame, Sparrow put pressure on her to know the truth.

Suddenly, a masked thug entered through the door and pointed a gun at him. I wanted to make him quick draw his fine pair of pistols, but I didn’t know if his item loadout was still the same I had in the score or what.

Therefore, my question is simple: what about item loadout during downtime and, in general, out of the score?

Tonight, I ran our first Blades session, but I had a tough time with a couple things:

Tonight, I ran our first Blades session, but I had a tough time with a couple things:

1) Running NPCs in combat. How do you figure out what it should take to kill an NPC. How do you judge positon and effect for them? When should you use damage clocks? When does scale come in to effect? 2, 3, or 5 opponents?

Situation A: PCs land their blimp near two Bluecloaks, who come to the door thinking they’re there to rescue them. The Spider chats them up to set up the Cutter. The Cutter stabs the Bluecoats to murder them both. Because there are two, I decide it is Desperate; because it is a surprise it is Standard. The Player rolls a 5. So the Bluecoats die, but the cutter takes severe harm, which is resisted, but takes out Armour and Heavy Armour WDUT? Should the Cutter’s blades helped? Should Standard be enough to kill instantly?

2) What does gear provide to actions? When should it increase effect, decrease position, or just act as permission.

Situation B: The Whisper is capturing a ghost stuck in a drain with a spirit bottle. He has a hook, a bottle, and a Spirit Mask. Does the gear help? How much?

3) What does the quality of gear change. Fine weapons, fine tools, and special weapons.

Situation C: The Cutter picks up a machine gun and uses it to shoot two bluecoats. I consider it to compensate for scale, the multiple NPCs. So I call it risky standard, the rolled 5. Means one dives behind cover while the other one is killed.

4) Asset cost. At the end of the session the Spider wants a Cohort to help with combat. The book says you can buy them as temporary Assets, but I can’t find a price. How much does it cost to hires some goons?

Hey, does anybody have any recommendations for how to run a crew of Con men?

Hey, does anybody have any recommendations for how to run a crew of Con men? The Shadows crew sheet doesn’t really have a lot to do with this kind of heist. My players want to be more like Oceans Eleven or Hustle rather than sneaking in and stealing. Any thoughts? Custom crew sheets?

Thanks

Hi there fellow scoundrels!

Hi there fellow scoundrels!

Hi there fellow scoundrels! I’m prepping to start my first campaign of Scum & Villainy and am going to develop a new star sector with my group using a combination of Microscope and Stars Without Number. Does anyone have some advice about how to integrate a system concept into the game rules?

It has become quite clear to me that Smugglers get very different jobs than Shadows!

It has become quite clear to me that Smugglers get very different jobs than Shadows! Any good recommendations for smuggling jobs that are more exciting than “take this interesting item to this other place”?

Hey, someone has almost certainly already asked this, but what’s the Load value of the Fine Lightning Hook?

Hey, someone has almost certainly already asked this, but what’s the Load value of the Fine Lightning Hook? There are two boxes on the loadout section of the playbook, but it explicitly says it’s only one in the Whisper’s gear section.
