Just got my copy of blades and it looks really cool. It also looks kinda of complicated with tracking all the various things outside of the playbooks. Any tips on learning the system or any particularly helpful videos?

I’ve just spotted Profits on page 49, which states that Every time the crew advances, each PC gets +1 stash (+2 per crew Tier) as a bonus payment, to represent profits generated by the crew as they’ve been operating.

I’ve not been doing this, and at any rate have a question: Is that every time you do crew XP, or when the crew advances in Tier?

If it’s the latter, then do you use the new Tier or the old Tier?

It’s another great mechanic, by the way – I’m just not sure when to apply it.

Hello guys and gals in the dark!

Newbie here with newbie questions!

I was wondering if you could help me!

About getting a crew’s “elite” gang type packages (they only cost 1), does one have to already have its’ respective “normal” crew type package (which costs 2)?

Thanks!

Salutations, fellow scoundrels,

I’ve looked for an answer to my question in this forum, but wasn’t able to find something, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I’m wondering about one of the choices you can make when taking the hound’s special ability ghost hunter, namely, ghost-form. The book has the following to say about it:

“Ghost-form allows the pet to transform into electroplasmic vapor as if it were a spirit.”

Specifically, I’m wondering whether this means that they have the same effect on humans like other ghosts – that is to say the pet would be as frightening as a “normal” ghost and the victim may not act unless they’re strong-willed or something.

If so, that sounds very powerful – if not overpowered – and I’m not sure how to deal with it. On the other hand, I find this a nice touch and like the idea very much from a fictional standpoint.

Any opinions on that matter?

What are some interesting rituals people have come up with for the Ritual ability?

When I invent something and then craft it, does it become basically a new LOAD option while I still have instances of it? And for it’s # of load boxes, do we just decide during the invention step along with the decisions we make about quirks and downsides?

Not doing great at using the search function or maybe this is an obvious answer buuut.

Not doing great at using the search function or maybe this is an obvious answer buuut…. Can NPC’s “assist?” I understand they can protect, participate in group rolls, or do a setup, but can they Assist in a roll? It feels like a silly question but they don’t take stress, and I can’t help but fall back on a group roll with them.

Hey all.

Hey all.

Hey all.

I’m currently preparing to run my first session of Blades this week; I just had a quick question regarding XP and Advancement, both for characters and the crew.

I’m a little confused as to precisely when all the XP should be tallied up?

Is it best to go through a cycle of play (Score+Downtime) and then talk about the triggers etc.?

Or is it literally at the end of every play session, regardless of where we get up to?

Reason for the confusion is that it’s unlikely a full score and downtime will get done in each session, particularly the first. Also, if there are ‘XP check-ins’ after every session it seems likely that the progression would be faster.

Cheers in advance!

Hi guys

Hi guys

Hi guys,

I’ve got a first game coming up soon, and I’ve got a few questions:

* What are the intended implications of different Load Levels? The book doesn’t seem to specify beyond describing them, so I assume it’s a bit up in the air, but I’d really like some guidelines on the matter. Higher levels mean more Heat? Less favorable starting positions? Etc.

* My group in particular will be playing an Assassins crew, and they elected for the No Traces special ability. Given that death automatically results in an increase in Heat, does that mean they can’t get any benefit from the second part of this ability without also having Crow’s Veil?

* Are all clocks intended to be player facing?

That’s all for now, but I’m sure I’ll think of more later. 🙂
