Here is a question for all of you – let’s say you wanted to do a modern game with a crew of wealthy dilettantes that do high end heists for the thrill of it. The coin mechanics isn’t an issue since they are already rich. What would you replace it with?

Perhaps something like influence, have a coin be $1 mil- or just remove it completely and use rep.

  1. I’d steal Favor mechanics from Karma in the dark. When you’re wealthy money isn’t a concern – but favors are, and they do scale well. If you are wealthy you still may want your friend to give you a try of this prototype supercar or smuggle your goods onto a space flight (or just move your satellite up the schedule). Favors can represent it very easily

  2. Replace it with curfew? Or whatever word that represents the ability of the players to escape their estates without notice. So it becomes about the ability to meet up unnoticed.

  3. +1 for Aaron Berger’s idea of curfew – but perhaps “Time” in general is a good one. There’s a general idea out there somewhere that decreases in material poverty result in increases in temporal poverty – the rich have little free time, the poor have few resources.
