New to Blades and seeing a lot of discussion on Position/Effect. Seems like it boils down to simply Risk/Reward. Or that’s at least another way to put it.
Is that accurate?
Hey!
Hey!
Technical question for you and I’m mostly interested in various MCs perspectives: what’s the distinction between the Aquire an Asset downtime action, and a Flashback to set up something during a score?
I mean beyond the possibility of Stress costs etc.
If John addresses this in the text, I would love a page number.
Thanks!

Okay need a bit of help with S&V: I get that ships start with certain modules Installed, but I can’t for the life of me figure out what the Available modules are supposed to be. At first I assumed it must mean that those are the only available modules for purchase with the group’s beginning upgrades, but later on it stated that the Cerberus could start with the targeting computer, even though it’s not listed as an available system.
Hi!
Hi! We are a Norwegian group playing our first campaign of Scum and Villainy, tomorrow is our third session, loving the game! 🙂 A couple of questions have popped up, maybe you have some suggested answers?
1) It seems that you can purchase a ship module for 6 cred as an aquire assets downtime action, as long as it’s legal. Can you upgrade the quality ratings as well in this way? Our group spends all its cred buying modules, is this what most crews end up doing?
2) When characters drop out due to trauma, how do you usually narrate this? We had one character max out on stress close to the end of the session, they were all aboard the Cerberus and he Resisted a consequence to the ship. There didn’t seem like an obvious way to get him out of the action, so we just narrated that he was stressed out about the situation and didn’t contribute much to finishing the job. Would you usually narrate that the character is “physically” removed from the mission?

Under “Recover”, it’s mentioned that you can tough it out, attempt to heal without treatment, take 1 stress, and roll 0d. Does this imply that you may push this undefined roll and pay an additional 2 stress to get an actual die? If this is a normal downtime roll, could you get help from a non-physicker friend or contact to get a die? And, in fact, would this be the only way to get a die?

Can a gang grab a “Veteran” special ability (the ones you can pick from other gangs’ sheets) whenever they’d otherwise get to buy a new special ability, or are the Veteran abilities only available when they’ve bought all of the Shadow-specific ones? Or restricted in some other way?
(I think it’s unrestricted, but I’m often wrong, so I’m checking with y’all.) 🙂

Does anyone have experience with the S&V Roll20 sheets? They’re really nice, but I’m hitting a small bug. The playbooks should appear on the CS when you type in the name. The sheet does that for 6 of the 7, but not for Speaker. I’ve tried some Google hunting around on this but couldn’t find discussion of it?
Any insight?
So…I guess somehow the posts for this community weren’t showing in my stream. No idea how that happened.

Anyway, I’m gearing up for a Blades game and I had an idea for a score after reading a review that was talking about how it’s always night and the PCs can’t change the world.
The score would be: A piece of the sun.
What would that be worth? What might it do? How could it be used? Who might be interested in it?
Scum & Villainy – question about the Repair downtime action.
Scum & Villainy – question about the Repair downtime action.
I’m a bit confused about the Rig roll that’s mentioned on page 188. The rules for the Repair activity say you spend one Cred to repair one damage on a ship system. The section about damage and systems says that broken modules are automatically repaired when the associated system damage is repaired Seems straightforward, but what is the Rig roll for? Is it just mentioned to contrast downtime repairs with the way damage is temporarily patched during missions or is there some effect that rolling Rig as part of a downtime repair should have?
