Under “Recover”, it’s mentioned that you can tough it out, attempt to heal without treatment, take 1 stress, and roll 0d. Does this imply that you may push this undefined roll and pay an additional 2 stress to get an actual die? If this is a normal downtime roll, could you get help from a non-physicker friend or contact to get a die? And, in fact, would this be the only way to get a die?

  1. To your 1st question: No. How are you pushing yourself if you are “toughing it out?” That doesn’t make sense [you aren’t, so No]. This doesn’t appear to be the “kind of roll where extra effort would help you” given that you are paying stress to roll 0. I think you could, however, choose to take those 2 stress to gain +1 effect level (though I would point out that spending stress during DTAs is a cost-inefficient way to spend it, and I don’t think you should really bother).

To your 2nd question: yes, though that would be a total of only 1d if the person providing treatment isn’t quality 1 or more at healing.

3rd question: Yea, kind of. The best way to get +1d on the recover DTA roll is to get treatment from your friend or contact.
