STASH

STASH

One thing I hoped to see in the final edition was a better explanation of what stash looks like in game before the character retires. I like the fortune dice rule a lot, and in the recent Bloodletters AP I saw Oskarr reaching for a butler and Arcy talking about owning property. I pitched my values lower in my mind, prefer them this way for sure. What do levels 1-4 look like in your world?

For those of us coming from 7.1 to the final release, is there a reference list or something of rule changes?

I can see from browsing the community that Faction hold and the engagement role changed, which has made me wonder about other rule changes.

Long-Term Projects and Training

Long-Term Projects and Training

Long-Term Projects and Training

Our group had a discussion last session concerning a player starting a long-term project to learn the calculating advancement from the spider playbook. We wanted to set an informed precedent for future actions of this type and I was specifically concerned with not creating a loophole that would become the optimal path to pursue future playbook advancements.

I particularly liked the player’s fictional setup for the project, involving gleaning information and technique from a friendly contact who fully embodies calculating. In hindsight though I cannot help but wonder if this fictional setup works every bit as well to describe the training playbook action in downtime.

I understand that long-term projects are the way to avoid, alter, or even break the rules, just questioning now if some rules are best not broken? Any input from similar situations and other groups experiences with long-term projects of this nature would be helpful.

Hi Everyone.

Hi Everyone.

Hi Everyone.

I’m planning to start playing a game online soon, and I was wondering if the default roll20 sheet has been updated with the latest version. I know someone made a sheet for v8, but last time I checked they were still waiting for roll20 to update it and thus the only way to get it was if you had a premium account (which I don’t). Thanks in advance!

Art and Artists in Blades In The Dark

Art and Artists in Blades In The Dark

Art and Artists in Blades In The Dark

Alright, the more I fiddle around with this “Illusionist” playbook, the more I’m veering away from Houdini and towards the idea of a mad artist capable of making their visions manifest.

To be honest, I quite like the idea of creating a playbook that captures the love of Art in the Dishonored series to let players create the Sokolovs and Delilahs of Doskvol.

So my question is : How would you handle artists, art and the creation of art in Blades In The Dark?

Part of the reason I’m asking is that I created a Special Ability called Palimpsest which may well define something which should normally be possible already.

This might be covered in the rules, but I’ve been having trouble finding a definite answer.

This might be covered in the rules, but I’ve been having trouble finding a definite answer. If the players are fighting against a larger group or gang, does the gang itself make “attacks” against the players? does each individual member roll or is it decided by a single group roll? Do the NPCs actually take actions against the PCs at all, or are their actions simply covered by complications and harm as a result of the PCs rolls?

Suggestions for getting back in the Spirit Wardens favor?

Suggestions for getting back in the Spirit Wardens favor?

My open table (20-player) group just hit their 9th session and everything is going well (out of game; in game, they keep making powerful enemies).

They’re a group of Hawkers with the Ghost Market ability and they’ve gone above and beyond to irritate the Spirit Wardens who are now at -2 status.

At -2 status, the Spirit Wardens are cracking down on the group’s ghost clients and are quick to show up anytime the crew’s Whispers summon / command ghosts.

The Spirit Wardens are a clear natural enemy but very powerful enemy (Tier IV) and not a foe that can be easily bribed or coerced. Any suggestions for how the group might erase some of their negative status with the Spirit Wardens?

A long term option is a series of scores around helping the Unseen infiltrate the Spirit Wardens and then using that influence to provide cover for the crew… but that’s a long term play.

Hi, I have a rules question regarding Devil’s Bargain:

One of my players while being in a desperate situation with zero effect asked me if it was possible to take a devil’s bargain for increased effect.

I allowed that but i couldn’t find anything in the rules stating such a use of the bargain is intended.

Therefore i would like to know if taking a devils bargain for increased effect is recommendable or if it is only intended for an additional die

I’m confused about the rail lines in the Imperium.

I’m confused about the rail lines in the Imperium.

I’m confused about the rail lines in the Imperium. The Brightstone sheet mentions Bowmore Bridge as perhaps the largest in the Imperium. But the map of the Shattered Isles shows rail lines connecting the different islands.

What form do these rail lines take? The train from Spirited Away comes to mind as a possibility…

I have a rules question, about Tiers and Quality.

Ryker, a novice cutter (Tier 0) but with a fine blade (+1 quality) goes up against a single thug of the Grinders (a Tier 2 gang).

If I’m reading this correctly, Ryker’s blade allows him to operate it as a Tier 1 device, but then the Tier disparity (2 vs 1) would only allow him to achieve limited effects against the thug. Without his precious blade, he would start out as being unable to affect the thug at all, correct?

Assuming no pushing or critical – did I read that right?
