When you suffer harm, but that harm track is already full, you take the next level up, so if you should take lesser harm but your lesser harm track is full, you take moderate harm instead. Is this purely mechanical or does the fiction change too? So say I had the moderate harm “winged” after getting shot but couldn’t take it, would it become “shot in the chest” etc?

If anyone else has some blades in the dark hacks that you guys are publishing physical form please let me know in addition to loving the Apocalypse World/BitD engine I love supporting the community.
Just ran my first session of Blades, also first time using Roll20 & webcams to play. Wow that was hard!
Just ran my first session of Blades, also first time using Roll20 & webcams to play. Wow that was hard!
Running the game & creating detail wasn’t actually as much a problem as I thought it might be but encouraging roleplay was really difficult. Everyone kept talking over each other & it was hard to keep the game focused – very different to sitting at the same table in person. It looks so simple when professional streamers do it, I guess Skype etiquette has to be learnt.
Sharing the spotlight was also difficult in this game. I’ve run Dungeon World a bit before & having PCs take turns at swinging their swords at enemies is much more straight forward. When players send the Slide in to do the talking & everyone else waits outside, it’s harder to get everyone involved in the scene.
It was just a one-off but hopefully I’ll have the chance to run some more sessions in future. Any advice?
Making a game Forged in the Dark? Looking for a publisher?
Making a game Forged in the Dark? Looking for a publisher?
If so, ping me. Evil Hat is interested in publishing more games that are based on the Blade in the Dark ruleset, i.e. Forged in the Dark.
What we’re looking for:
– Complete or near-complete games that have been thoroughly playtested.
– Game manuscript in plain text format (not in layout).
– Setting/genre that would fit in Evil Hat product lines.
– Some mock ups of character and crew sheets as a point of reference for the graphic designer to work from.
– Ideas about layout and art aesthetic (including artists you have in mind).
– A willingness to work with us on all aspects of the game as we go through the editing, layout, proofing, art direction, and indexing to get it ready for print.
– A partner in marketing the game along-side us by playing it online, at conventions, with local groups and generally building the excitement that comes from play.
Services we provide:
– Finishing (we have a stable of talent to do editing, layout, art, proofing, indexing, etc).
– Project Management (we’ll work with you as well as all the staff assigned to the project to complete the game and make sure it meets our standard of production quality, which is pretty damn high).
– Marketing (this is co-operative aspect. EHP will use our marketing engine but the most ardent fans will always come from you).
– Manufacturing (developing the print spec, getting quotes, proofs, and working with the printer to complete the book).
– Fulfillment (delivery to wholesale, direct vendors like IPR, and backers/pre-order customers, along with the customer service and ongoing inventory supply management needed).
We’ve worked with John Harper to publish Blades in the Dark and we couldn’t be happier with what a great game it is. We want to work with you to make even more of them. In fact, we already may be working with some of you now 😉
Ping me and let me know if you’re interested! seannittner at gmail.

Greetings
Greetings,
New to the game, about to start running my first Blades campaign.
Are there any actual play examples of using Clocks in combat? The book mentions using them for hard fights or expert opposition but I’m curious to see it in action.
I’m happy to hear anyone’s experience with it.
Any news? The last update was three months ago and was about delays.

How to make mirrors!
How to make mirrors!

But then, some people add a little “something extra” and some of the mirrors coming from a secretive manufacturer are causing problems of some kind or another.
First, maybe get some of the mirrors that are causing problems. Then, maybe figure out where they’re made. Then? Well… somebody has to stop them.
Or refine their technique. Either or.

Has anyone ever statted up a Railjack as a PC?
Has anyone ever statted up a Railjack as a PC? I’ve got a player jumping in for just one session, and I’m thinking of giving him a Jack who happens to be helping the PCs with a ghost problem. I suppose Whisper will work as a base, but is there anything special I should throw in for him? The only thing that occurs is the suit. What special ability would be the best fit?
