  1. Want to talk clocks? Here’s my PM hat for a sec:

    Standard Edition PDF (coming out 1/30):

    * V8 Draft complete (John) – This is probably about 30 separate clocks, but worth noting this was completed in December.

    * Developmental editing – (Stras and Sean) – 8/8

    * Administrative work like BackerKit and website config (Fred, John, and Sean) – 8/8

    * Copy editing main text (Karen) – 8/8 (Just turned in last night)

    * Evil Hat Operations and Marketing review (Fred, Chris, Carrie, Sean) – 2/4

    * Copy editing front/back matter (Karen) – 0/4

    * Apply edits to final draft (John) – 0/6 (Karen’s edits were mostly quick fixes, but she had over 1,000 comments on the doc, that’s a lot of quick fixes!)

    * Collect final art for the text (John) 6/8

    Special Edition (completed 2/10, but not coming out till the print in April):

    * City guide to U’Duasha (John) – 6/8

  2. Randy Lubin, v8 will not resemble the prior drafts in format. It’s the “whole book” rather than quickstarts, so I don’t think a change log would be viable. It would read like this if we did it:

    Page 1-320: All the changes.

  3. Sean Nittner haha fair enough!

    Any hopes for high level summary of rules changes? It’d be great to have a short list of topics to read up on. I know the engagement roll and tier upgrading have changed a bit…

  4. Sean Nittner  Thanks for this awesome breakdown! And, for the very excellent reminder about how many people are putting their hard work into this. Many, many thanks to you all 🙂

  5. +Randy Lubin, this is my second time writing this so I apologize it it’s terse. G+ ate the first one, which was much longer:

    Staying the same:

    Core mechanics (action, fortune, resistance roles)

    Game play procedure (score, downtime, free play)

    Payoff process (heat, coin, rep, entanglements)

    Setting material (Dusk is still the Dusk)

    Changing:

    Special abilities (crew and character, some of this has been previewed, some moves are changing, some staying the same but with more explanation)

    Cohorts (now quality = tier for gangs, tier +1 for experts, a few other changes as well).

    The way entanglements are rolled (more tied into Wanted level now)

    Engagements (already previewed)

    Expanded setting (more factions detailed, more of the world!)

    The Faction Game (already previewed)

    Gather information is now a free activity (maybe fortune or action roll).

    Healing and recovery.

    Probably some other stuff, but that’s what’s off the top of my head.

  6. Sean doesn’t have to answer this, but on the topic of changes, wasn’t there something concerning gathering information? It just popped into my head.

  7. Yeah, it’s no longer a downtime action, just something you can do any time. If there is peril involved it might be an action roll, if it’s just a matter of how good your info is, it would be a fortune roll.

  8. Sean Nittner , are you just hovering over your keyboard waiting to drop sweet info-bombs like Santa in January? Thanks a bunch, good sir! I really like that change (and it’s how we did it, purely by accident, as a sort of “pre-score downtime” action).

  9. Ben Liepis, ha, totally happy to help. But the real answer is I’m trying to keep work off John’s plate so he has time to finish up the final draft 🙂

  10. Wowzers! Excellent news. Truly excellent. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go ride herd on a bunch of naughty kittens in period costume who intend to blow up ol’ Bazzer Baz…

  11. Sean Nittner Any idea how long the new Backerkit print run will be available for? Is it a timed thing or is it until you’ve sold a certain number? I’m keen to get one ordered but I may be away from internet for a few days and would hate to miss it.

  12. Jason Lee, it will run through February and the beginning of March (not 100% sure of the cut off date but tentatively 3/7) so you should have plenty of time.
