So we have an Artificer Leech in our group, and I am not fully satisfied with the way I am currently running the game for him. The way we that ability has usually worked historically was flashing back to him making a gadget that was perfect to the situation at hand. On the one hand, that is sweet! We had an rage essence diffusing grenade that sparked a brawl in the ranks of a bluecoat ambush. On the other hand, aside from picking locks, that’s all I’ve seen his sweet sweet Tinker score be used for. Plus, flashbacks, though I like them in principle, also have a bit of detrimental effect on the forward momentum of a scene.

I think this comes down to the fact that I don’t really have a good grasp of the technological backbone of the city. I’d like to be able to close my eyes and automatically see wiring, piping, chugging machinery and know what their purposes are.

So, help me get there! What kind of tinkerable tech is prevalent in your games?

I have some friends willing to give the game a go now we’ve finished our current campaign.

I have some friends willing to give the game a go now we’ve finished our current campaign. But they came up with a question that gave me pause: can it be run more light hearted for a leverage style game? I’m dubious as most setting material gravitates towards dark and the humour would likely also be black or satire. Anyone have suggestions on tone lightening?

So, you all know about Andrew Shields’ Heist deck right?

So, you all know about Andrew Shields’ Heist deck right? And I guess you’ve probably seen his ‘sample’ uses like this one:

Well, I took one of +Vasco Mourao’s excellent drawings and coloured it with the Tower of Holtz Clermont’s retro-fitting in mind: With lightning wall technology for protection….

In my group’s last session, we realized that we weren’t sure how to handle PCs aiding PCs in downtime actions, since it had never come up before. We see that the aided PC gets +1d to their roll, but does the aiding PC have to also spend a downtime action? Or does he spend 2 stress, as per the regular aiding rules?

I might have missed this in the text, but I didn’t see a clear explanation during my last re-read.

WOLVES IN THE DARK

WOLVES IN THE DARK

WOLVES IN THE DARK

I wrote a sort-of hack, more of an add-on, for BitD which allows playing werewolves in Doskvol.  I am a huge fan of the White Wolf/Onxy Path Werewolf games, both Apocalypse and Forsaken, so this is a bit of a love letter to them.  Any feedback is appreciated, especially since I haven’t had an opportunity to playtest this.  I would like to give credit for the excel spreadsheet format. I found it on the community here, but can’t remember where, and a quick search didn’t find it. So, if you made the excel format I used, thank you.

Having great fun running sessions of this game, but I have a query.

Vice levels. Guys some help please. Every character starts off with a Vice level of 1, but how/why does this stat get to increase? It’s probably me, but I see nothing in the rules that effects a players Vice rating, so how does this work. Thanks.

PvP! What happens when players act against other players? We’re in a session right now and Slide wants to use Mesmerism on the Leech to make the Leech forget that the Slide had taken an item from the score for herself…

Curious if others have come across similar situations and what they did. Can’t see anything in the play test doc for PvP actions (or have we missed something.

Can anyone recommend any works of fiction that inspire your Blades games, that aren’t already in the book?

Can anyone recommend any works of fiction that inspire your Blades games, that aren’t already in the book? Lies of Locke Lamora is great, but I really didn’t get along with the Vlad Taltos books (something about the writing style) – on the other hand, I’ve been reading the Low Town books by Daniel Polansky, and they are absolutely perfect for the tone that Blades wants. I’d easily recommend it to anyone who wants ideas or material or just to inspire your creativity.

What else have you guys been reading/watching/playing?

I’ve been enthralled by the deep and atmospheric setting of Blades in the Dark, and loved the idea of the perpetual darkness as a setting detail, but this morning in the shower thought that classic question: “But what do they eat?”

What grows in this world with no sunlight?
