Just spitballing here, but how about a comedic game hack where a gang of selfish friends who run a crappy bar attempt to pull off outlandish schemes, whilst simultaneously trying to screw each other over in the worst possible ways? More of an anti-teamwork thing. Drinking required. Eating cat food is optional.

So here’s a thought.

How hard would it be to run a game where the PCs are actually a group of “undercover agents” working for the government/police/whatever, and have to keep up a believable facade of criminal activity while trying to hold on to their morals and oaths to the government? I’d imagine at the least you’d need a special crew sheet, maybe some special countdown clocks to represent the tension between living the lie and doing what’s “right”.

(Why yes I have been playing Sleeping Dogs, why do you ask?)

Downloaded and read the quickstart package this morning.  Good stuff.

For me, no system is mine until I run an occult conspiracy game in it.  Which, I am going to do probably within three weeks of the actual receipt of the code stuff for doing my own books.

One of my groups will be running a game via PbP.  Now, I’m an old hat at PbP, so I don’t need any general advice, but if anyone has already played BitD this way, is there any BitD specific advice you could offer?

If not, I guess I’ll be the one to ask in the future.

Retailer reward levels….

Retailer reward levels….

It occurred to me while reading the backers for night witches that the Kickstarter had several retail backers who probably got a lot of copies for sale. I know endgame in Oakland got a lot. Perhaps a retailer reward level with some special stuff designed just for retailers would be a nice backer level …

Ten copies and a maybe special map pads with the Duskwall map or printed in store QuickStart demos (switchblades in the dark?) something you could only get at those shops or by backing at that level … That might encourage them to throw in say 500 or 600 dollars…

How are you all visualising Leviathans?

How are you all visualising Leviathans?

How are you all visualising Leviathans? Massive whale creatures, giant toothy sea worms, tentacled quid monsters, or a combination thereof? Just wondered whether I’d missed a description in the text, or whether it has been purposefully left open for interpretation.

A few questions about the Whisper’s Channel: Use electroplasmic energy to produce supernatural effects.

A few questions about the Whisper’s Channel: Use electroplasmic energy to produce supernatural effects. Costs stress equal to the magnitude of the effect (0-4).

1. I assume the electroplasmic energy needs to be in the form of a residue refined from spirits or leviathan blood. A Whisper can’t just pull this energy from within themselves or from spirits floating nearby?

2. Does this move let you skip rolling for action and effect? So like “I’ll pay 4 stress from channelling, which gives a complete effect so I fill in 4 segments of this obstacle.”

3. Why choose a 0 magnitude effect? Can it only have fictional consequences?
