The Seventh Moon Character-Sheet updated on V.0.3 of the publicly available material. I am waiting for the definite version of 0.3 before I tinker on the others sheets. I personally prefer pure b/w sheets and a reading direction left to right, top to bottum. Yes I know, a bit conservativ, but still easier for me to read.

Please send feedback if there is somethink you dislike or think is a bad design choice, so I can improve. (The large space below the abilities remain there for the case I want to hack in more abilities)

I’ve updated the listing of enterprises in the neighborhood.

I’ve updated the listing of enterprises in the neighborhood.

I’ve updated the listing of enterprises in the neighborhood. Aldo and Wolfram torched a 2 point enterprise for the Red Sashes, and that was just enough to knock them from Tier 2 down to Tier 1, so if they don’t immediately annex another enterprise they’ll lose points from their remaining enterprises. At tier 2 they can have a maximum of 10 in an enterprise, but at tier 1, it is a maximum of 5. So they are in a “make or break” situation.

The Lampblacks and Crows are likely to make a move to assure the weakened Red Sashes stay weak. We’ll see what the characters do. Maybe they can negotiate to help out in exchange for control of a small enterprise, if the big dogs snap up the bigger ones.

I also updated the document to include the PC crew.

Wanted to share my Ghost Lines character background cards that I created for use when I ran one shot games of Ghost Lines (Dark variant). I realized they could also be really useful for creating Rail Jack (aka Line Bull) NPCs in Blade in the Dark. Just divide the types of cards into piles and randomly draw one from each. The rules listed are going to be different from BitD but the cards are mostly descriptive so they should work fine. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_x5XNahtqzvUEhKc2FzYnNkMVE/edit?usp=sharing

Hey criminals and ne’er-do-wells!

Hey criminals and ne’er-do-wells! I’m really enjoying Blades, and have been having so much fun going through the Quickstart, that I thought I’d put together something to share. I created a simple macro in Excel which pulls together a couple of different items to create a quick NPC on the fly, based on different backgrounds.

If this is useful, I could also do something similar for creating Scores on the fly and could also add more traits and descriptions to the tool. What do folks think?

We have started doing playbook advancement questions before the embodiment decision.  Since they are more concrete, they’re a good way to remind us what happened in the previous session before trying to figure out what action group the character embodied.

Just something to think about, might be a good reorganization for other groups as well.

Here is my first attempt to codify my thoughts on using enterprises instead of the crew sheet structure.

This draft isn’t the finished version, but I am interested in feedback. This is far more in-depth and complex than anything else I’ve proposed, so it took significantly more to get it from an idea to a .pdf. I know this is not the direction John Harper is taking the game, as it focuses on resource management, but I needed to flesh it out because it makes sense to me.

An important advantage of the system is that those who want to use it minimally can use it minimally. Even if the crew has a small base, or no base, and focuses on heists, this still gives the GM great tools for helping the PCs choose targets.

For an example, I’ll stat up how the crew with Jack Shear and Bryan Mullins characters looks with the new version.

They picked “Everyone Steals” which grants people +1 skill point, and “Slippery” to allow rolling 2 results for entanglements and keeping one, and getting +1d to reduce heat. I think Slippery could be repurposed as a special ability to buy, but not Everyone Steals.

They picked Amancio, a fence, as the contact. They also picked having a crew of adepts, a hidden lair, and a library.

For flavor, they decided their lair was in the basement of an occult bookshop, Adeleide’s Phrenological Emporium, with a sewer access to the gondola canals.

How does this look in the enterprise system?

They start with 2 enterprise, one for each of them. One will invest in the fence, Amancio. The other will invest in the bookstore, which is over their lair.

The point of enterprise from the bookstore will be put back into the bookstore to make it legal, to cover fees and expenses and all. As it grows, perhaps it will generate more income than it needs to stay legal, but for now that will do.

The point of enterprise from the fence will go to fund having a crew of 4 adepts.

The default lair has living space, meeting space, and a space for something else; they choose to put a library in there.

One of the characters is close to getting a bead on how one crew is moving leviathan blood into the city illegally, and he is going to make a move to get in on that. This will represent adding an enterprise to the crew.

What do you think? This is still rough, but it’s my best thinking about this at the current time.

Thought I’d throw up a very early, very rough first draft of the playbooks for my hack “Lingering Souls”, which takes place on Innistrad (the gothic horror themed world of Magic: the Gathering).

Lingering Souls has six main playbooks (which comprises most of the hack given how similar the setting is to default Duskwall), with a bit more leaning towards the magical side of things. Most of the abilities are purposeful straight ports for now, since I hope this can also serve to playtest some of the abilities that will appear in the actual final game.

It’s not much, but it took me a while to stitch together so I thought I might as well share.

Hello guys

Hello guys

Hello guys,

At my group’s request, I’ve been working a bit on a L5R hack based on the fantastic rules of BitD for action resolution (AW, but better :p ).

I know it’s not the what it is made for, and will probably not work as well, but it will still work better than the original AEG cumbersome rules.

I’d ike to have your opinion about the character sheet (not so much on visual basis, since iit’s still a draft and I am by no means a gifted designer): what do I have forget, wich skills are lacking…

Void is the stress, honor might be the currency, karma is kinda like trauma. You mark it by slinding a paperclip on the sides of sheet.

If it goes the way I plan it, crew will be subsitutes by families (and crew type by clan).

If I’m doing something wrong legally speaking, let me know too 🙂
