I’m a bit confused as to the how coin gets split between characters and the crew.

The payoff section has the coin associated with different sized score. Is that for the entire crew or per player?

If it’s for the entire crew, how do players earn coin?

If it’s per player, how does the crew earn coin?

Any rules about when characters can lend / borrow crew coin?

A crew starts with 2 coin. How many coin does each character start with?

or security. When you roll a critical on a feat of athletics or stealth,

clear 1 stress.”

Trying to figure this out for a player. Does this mean they don’t get detected if they’re sneaking and fail the roll or does it mean they resist consequences from failing the stealth roll.

I was under the impression that you still failed the roll (meaning you get detected) but the armour prevents the consequence of the guard punching you in the face once he’s noticed you.

Is this correct? Armour doesn’t negate the roll it negates the consequence which follows? In the same way regular armor doesn’t stop you getting shot it just stops the damage.

So one of my groups just hit wanted level 1. How do I factor this in? It seems to only matter for how long a player is imprisoned and (very minorly) their entanglements. Does it matter for anything else? Are bluecoats actively searching for them? Are inspectors putting together a case? Should I make clocks to do with them being wanted? How many segments?

I’m just having a hard time manifesting wanted level into the fiction. (They’re shadows who murder a lot)

Quick Question: Normally when you resist harm it goes down a level, but sometimes the PC already has the lower level filled up, I would rule in this instance that the player can’t actually resist the harm because a level three wound (severed arm) would be turned down to a level 1 wound (nicked pinkie). Am I correct in this judgment?

It says in the rules that a faction loses one hold if it goes to war.

It says in the rules that a faction loses one hold if it goes to war.

If a faction is already at war would you still lower it further if a new war started? Would the same apply to a faction involved in a war but not actually at war?

For example, the lampblacks and red sashes are at war, and the Crows are part of the feud albeit not at war with either per say. Each has tier 2 weak hold.

If a group then went to war with the Crows, would they stay at tier 2 weak or drop to tier 1 strong? Would the same be true of the lampblacks or sashes?

Also after a war is over does the faction hold go back up?

So my Hawkers crew took the job to run the Black Anchor for the Red Sashes, who recently seized the gambling den and animal fighting pit from the Billhooks. The Hawkers know the Billhooks are coming back to reclaim it, but my players want to defend their position and lay an elaborate trap.

Now the Billhooks are Tier II with strong hold, so they send a gang of 20 thugs at the crew. And all 20 Billhooks end up dead in the street.

Aside from all the other fallout, what happens to the Billhooks’s tier and hold? I’m leaning to dropping their hold from strong to firm, because it was just one of their gangs. But my players didn’t specifically perform an operation to reduce the Billhook’s hold (p14 of 7.1 Quickstart), so maybe the Billhooks’s hold shouldn’t change. On the other hand, 20 gang members are gone, so maybe the Billhooks’s hold should drop even further?

John Harper I was just reading the extra info for Lord Scurlock and it says that his project is to repay setarra a debt (by releasing the sea demons) or face a dark fate. What would Lord Scurlock have asked of setarra to be indebted to her if you were running the story?

It also says that both have been the master of the other over the centuries, which begs the question, is that how demon contracts work? You do a favor for a demon, they do one for you and so on until one doesn’t uphold their end of the bargain and gets killed?

If a player declares a heavy load and have 6 items marked, can they carry more without dropping things (ie fictional limits are the actual restraint on what can be carried), or is 6 meant to be the hard limit?

So I can’t help but notice that in Scum and Villainy, the Muscle has “Krieger, A fine blaster pistol” listed under the Deadly Friends heading, rather than the item list. Is this a typo, or a reference to that snarky talking gun from Slingers? 🙂
