I’m trying to estimate the length of any given BitD campaign, as well as the approximate progression “arc” so to speak.

I could use some datapoints, if people are willing to help out:

In your group, about how much player xp is typically gained in a session? How much crew XP?

If you’ve ‘completed’ a BitD campaign, how many sessions did it run for?

Rules Q about the Hawker’s Load crew ability which googling offered me no assistance on:

Is “Item” inclusive of weapons, armor and gear, or is it “a thing which is none of the above?”

A question about flashbacks for downtime activities:

A question about flashbacks for downtime activities:

A question about flashbacks for downtime activities:

1) What downtime activities can you flash back to, if any?

2) Does that flashback cost stress (0, 1, 2) in addition to the coin or rep cost?

ex) player: I want to have just the tool to crack this safe, can I flashback to a downtime action and acquire asset for a special tool? The coin could be either bribing someone to get access to it, or just buying it outright.

ex) player: I totally would have prepared my ritual for this, I’ll mark the stress to cast it and spend the coin to purchase the necessary reagents.

Lastly, if you can flashback for any downtime activity and they never cost stress, why even bother with the downtime portion of play?

A few questions from our last session :

– before a score, the PC wanted to do some preparations: they gathered informations, and wanted to “prepare” stuffs (go see contacts, arrange things).. I directly cut through the score but we were wondering. Can the PC do a few gather information rolls, or only one? When do you choose to cut the action and trigger the engagement roll? When they’re not directly planning in ooc or rp conversations, but actually doing things, do you cut or do you let them? There is a blur boundary between freeplay and the score. Some of my PC were like “ok you cut it off but we could made lots of stuff before”. Struggling with that.

– When you’re at war, your hold becomes weak. When the war finishes, does the hold becomes strong again, or do you have to pay Rep for it?

– does anyone could tell me which episode of RollPlay or the Bloodletters is about the engagement roll (not only the first one in the ballroom, just want to see how John deals with engagement rolls)

Hi, questions about smugglers scores and their content, and about when to trigger the engagement roll.

Some help to improvise scores for smugglers? What does a smuggler score looks like? What does a twist looks like?

It’s obvious for assassins or spy, but I have trouble for smugglers to give a smuggling feel. For instance, I just dropped a score with the leviathan hunter that cannot dock because of an administrative blockade, and they started in a desperate situations. So I went with an unexpected mutiny, but some players felt it was too skirmish orientated for a smuggler job?

Also, how much things do you play before the score, in freeplay? I mean, they want to do a score, they gather information, but then they go see contacts, try to prepare in some way (but not stuck in a conversation without actions). When do you trigger the engagement roll?

Has anyone done anything set outside the city walls? What kinds of scenarios/environments did you use?

I just saw a question on the Dungeon World community that was such a BitD question that I initially thought is was this community, and now I am super curious as to people’s answers:

Hello all, I’ve madly offered to run a one-shot of BITD for my group next week. I’m reasonably clear on the rules, but a few questions of course;

Are NPC Threat Levels fairly core to the mechanics? It’s not clear how many levels there are from reading page 167. Is it just Standard, Skilled, and Master? Do these descriptive classifications in any way tie in to Tiers/Quality, which I also don’t quite get yet but am aware are a numerical value from 0 to VI?

Thank you in advance.
