Since smugglers can take a vehicle as a cohort, can they then use the “add cohort type” crew upgrade to turn it into an amphibious Carriage/Boat?

Under the downtime actions for NPC factions one of the options reads, “Gather information on the PCs (may be opposed by a PC roll)”.

This is a resistance roll, correct? If not, how would you handle this?

A long time friend and I (both in our 40’s and friends since we we teenagers) got to talking last night about old games at a local convention and suddenly my brain is on fire with how perfect Blades in the Dark would be for a LARP.

One gm with each crew, 4-6 players per crew. Each player and crew type has predefined relationships with the other playsheets and crews. Set initial position. Set up a central hub for collating data and plot. Set players loose.

I can’t stop thinking about it.

Dang, I thought wigs were a weird thing to steal.

“Look, my old son, green plants don’t exactly thrive in the Dusk. What that means is that the richest of toffs have got to have them. Status symbols, innit? Wait, wait, stop your wailing. Yes, what that means is that we’re sending you out into the Deathlands to pick ferns. But look what we’ve done for you! Through the generosity of Scurlock himself, you’re to be escorted by these fine bravos from Crow’s Eye. I’m sure nothing can possibly go wrong.”

Certainly not a conventional target for a heist…

Just introduced my group to Blades. I’ll have a Cutter, a Leech, a Lurk, a Slide and a Whisper working as a crew of Shadows. Just ran them through character creation and gave them the homework “I want a 5 page essay on your character” 😄

Will be interesting to see what they come up with over the next couple of weeks

I’m hopefully going to be running Blades with a new group soon.

I’m hopefully going to be running Blades with a new group soon.

My plan was to have them coming into the city to deal with the Lampbacks/Red Sashes war and see how things progress.

My idea was that the players in the group with a rich/higher stature in society background would be working for a richer noblemen or even as the emperors underlings. Whereas the poorer/thug like characters would be working for them. Giving the group a mix of dynamics.

The “rich” characters would be trying to please their “lord” by making a crew and infiltrating the district whereas the “poor” characters would be out to better themselves.

What do people think of this idea? Also would you keep some facts a mystery. Like the poor know they’re working for someone but don’t exactly know who etc.

Does anyone have some ideas on what kind of score could provide a “Lookouts” claim?

Does anyone have some ideas on what kind of score could provide a “Lookouts” claim? It’s one of those claims without any kind of narrative text and I can’t wrap my head around it.

OK, not really. I just read the bit about the marriage of an ink-black sky and sea, both cradling ever-shifting stars, the result a maddening void which, presumably, seems likened to the cold darkness of outer space in our world. Hell (pun intended), it may actually be a three-dimensional journey, the various kingdoms shifting in the darkness. Only by navigating the strange, subconscious ghost-currents can members of the Cartographer’s Guild guide ships through the night-waves. Or not. Who knows? 🙂

I see some great moments akin to Alien and Event Horizon happening to those who sail deep into the void.
