Picking nits: On page 7, under resistance rolls, it says “The roll tells us how much stress their character suffers to reduce the severity of a consequence.” and then follows up with an example of that, but later examples of resistance rolls indicate that it’s a possibility for a resistance roll to totally avoid a consequence – the “disarm” example on page 11 strongly implies this, and the first example on page 13 has the GM deciding that consequences are merely reduced. This feels slightly inconsistent. I don’t know if we’re too late for the final text or not (I feel like it’s been implied that we’re not) but adding the words “avoid or” to the first example would make this feel more complete.

So a weird little question came up in my game last night.

All the playbooks have a spot for Alias, and there’s a list of suggested aliases on character creation page. So we, at least, ended up with a team who all have aliases and use them. Seems to make sense so far.

Then you read the game, and NO ONE mentioned in the rules anywhere has an alias. So you end up with PCs who think of themselves as Crickets, Quince and Frogman talking to NPCs with “normal” names.

This struck us as weird. Is this “working as intended?”

Also, on a related note – the character creation page no longer tells you to choose a name or an alias. While this may seem obvious, it still seems like it should be a step in the process.

A quick question:

The game talks about ‘turf’ in the abstract sometimes. Ironically, often on the ‘turf map’ where it is talking about it in a very gamey way. When “Lookouts” says “+1d to Survey or Hunt on your turf” what does it mean? Yes, one could reference the fiction, but do Thieves even HAVE “turf” in any sort of traditional fictional sense? If pressed, I would say that a crew of thieves’ “turf” was the area they worked, which would make it more like their Hunting Grounds, which are also A Thing.

This feels a little confusing.

So since we’re talking about names, has there ever been any information given on the the Ink Rakes?

So since we’re talking about names, has there ever been any information given on the the Ink Rakes? I think in my game they’ve rather fancifully become the Duskwall News reporters, but something makes me suspect there was a different idea in mind at inception.

So, this came up the other evening; when a character gets Trauma, they clear all stress, and drop out of the score, to show up later.

With the new vice rules though, if they come back in time for downtime actions, if the don’t indulge their vice (which would automatically be an overindulgence), they immediately get stress. This seems like adding insult to injury, since they just got hit with trauma, and their choices, as written, seem to be:

Overindulge

Gain stress (at least two, depending on what trauma level this is)

Miss downtime actions entirety

Is this intended? Because it seems like a mean one-two punch.

Does this mean that a tier 0 crew can choose “lose face” and lose nothing?

John Harper  – something I’ve noticed in two plays now.  We keep forgetting to choose loads before starting our score.   Is there somewhere that a reminder about this could be dropped in, maybe in the vicinity of Engagement rolls or something?
