I’d like to whole-heartedly recommend the Crimetown Podcast. The current first season is about the history of mobster crime in Rhode Island. It is very well researched with original material (and pictures on the website, too).

This is definitely inspiring material for a Blades round.

John Harper, now that Evil Hat is on board with the publishing, are there better options to obtain the physical book in Europe?

Currently, I’ve just backed the PDFs (with POD option) because of customs in EU. However, with Evil Hat, I’d be interested in a physical (hard cover) book if I can get it from within the EU.

I just love, love Scum & Villainy!

I just love, love Scum & Villainy! I was waiting a long time for a fresh system to play Firefly style sessions. I’m impressed how well-done it is: The design stays both loyal to the Blades design as well as the setting, playsets look great & accessible, random tables are excellent (looks like Lasers & Feelings XXL) and all the details seem very well designed in depth and detail for prep-less play.

One thing I noticed on first sighting: I’ve found the Scrap Action a bit misleading. In the setting, I’ve associated it more with a tinkerer who scraps old spaceships for parts etc, less with a basic fighting action.

Thanks so much for S&V!

V6 looks really nice, love the random tables (can’t get enough…)!

One “typo”: on the Vampire sheet, the Trauma “blades” look very dark (black instead of grey).

John Harper, will there be a printer ink friendly edition of Quickstart v4, hiding the black chunks on the print-outs?

You could create it with InDesign i.e. by putting the dark large images in an extra layer & hiding them optionally.

An already great game keeps getting better and better with v4!

An already great game keeps getting better and better with v4! I really like the new vice overindulgence. Makes sense in the fiction. Changing the assist mechanic from +1 bonus die to shifting up the position is really great. So, your friends cannot boost your chance of success but might make it easier for you if things won’t work out.

Just one little detail: on the character sheets, for special armor, I don’t like that the connection line is going up.

John Harper, is it possible to have a printer-friendly copy of QuickStart PDF? With each update, I go through the same routine of plastering the PDF with white annotation boxes. Don’t get me wrong: the black design & graphics look fantastic, it’s just killing my printer.

Basically, Blades assumes a sandbox environment with fixed factions, all more or less in the same business – right?

Could the game handle a hack well where the factions are unknown first and evolve or are discovered over time?

I’m thinking anime superpowers, where the heroes live in a small world first and discover both the “big bad” as well as their allies over time – as well as diverse groups ranging from family, goverment agencies to strange races.
