I just love, love Scum & Villainy! I was waiting a long time for a fresh system to play Firefly style sessions. I’m impressed how well-done it is: The design stays both loyal to the Blades design as well as the setting, playsets look great & accessible, random tables are excellent (looks like Lasers & Feelings XXL) and all the details seem very well designed in depth and detail for prep-less play.
One thing I noticed on first sighting: I’ve found the Scrap Action a bit misleading. In the setting, I’ve associated it more with a tinkerer who scraps old spaceships for parts etc, less with a basic fighting action.
Thanks so much for S&V!
Paying for the early access pdf is not nearly as good as having gotten in on the KS for this game. :/
I have to second the awesomeness of S&V. I might just have to give it a shot overt thanksgiving.
Thanks for kind words BPG! We had Skirmish in there for a while, but we decided that being scrappy and plucky was more the tone we wanted with our scoundrels. Most of the groups seem to pick it up ok after a session (particularly once they get used to rig as the default tech action).
J Stein we’re trying to sort out DriveThru this week (there’s some extra stuff like having to figure out our brand and stuff) but S&V should be up for non-backers sometime soon-ish. It’s not quite as good as having gotten in on the KS, but at least once that’s sorted backers and non-backers should get our playsets at roughly the same time.
Stras Acimovicā please let us know when it’s on DriveThruRPG. š
Stras Acimovic that’s great to hear; I’m excited!
Maxime LacosteĀ J SteinĀ I promise I’ll make a post in group and tweet about it and such soon as it is. We’re on it I promise! ^_^
Stras Acimovic Got to add to to the love fest. GM’d a one shot today and had an awesome time. All of my players were Blades savvy, and I think the hack was super easy to pick up for Blades fans but also felt different enough to be worthwhile beyond a simple setting re-skin.
I’ll have some more substantial feedback in the future, but overall, this game is a blast!
Looking forward to that future post Cass!
