After watching Peaky Blinders (on John’s recommendation over at RollPlay: Blades) I got to thinking what a WW1-style Unity War would have done to the city of Doskvol. How does WW1 change when you add ghosts?

So I began with that seed, and ended up here, with Remnants of War, a mini-supplement that contains a new Crew type – Legionnaires, some new gear including Howler Grenades, Gallowmortars, and Faraday Armor, and some detailing on the Imperial Military faction.

Enjoy!

  1. Roe Portal Cheers! I’m hoping to give back a little to this community, as I’ve used so much from here for my home game. Glad you liked this piece.

  2. This is supremely cool, and might give some nice background ideas for two of my players, one of whom is a former Imperial Military medic, the other of whom is a Skovlander rebel turned refugee

  3. (salutes) Worthy of a brace of commemorative toasts in memory of the poor bastards and a recitation of Sun Tzu’s profound observation about fallen kingdoms and dead soldiers. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Calum Grace That’s the plan! I can’t imagine any form of prolonged activity outside stable lightning barriers would be in any way not scary, to be honest. It really makes me wonder how, in Blades, war could even happen… Isn’t everyone just terrified to go outside at all?!

  5. Ben Scerri I imagine they would be a game of either trying to trojan-horse the enemy or destroying lightning barriers to let ghosts in. If there are ways to avoid Leviathan encounters then navel strategies will be common. There are people who can survive out in the Deathlands. You can learn the trick the people of the dagger-isles have and use that to get by.

  6. Gorinich Serpant Totally, I can imagine Dagger Isle-style commandos, and Lightning Barrier Tanks, and Rail Jack Cannons. War would be fierce and terrifying – I think it would be about creating beach heads, and then attempting to dismantle your opponents defenses, like you say… Which is pretty terrifying.
