Might be the wrong place for this, but just ran my first session of Scum and Villainy yesterday! Had a blast, but ran into one thing I could use clarification on. If the crew fills up all their XP for the ship, what are their options? Can they get a new weapon if they already have enough points in that system? Is there a crew cost too? Any help appreciated!

  1. Hey Joe!

    You can get:

    a) 1 new system (so Weapons 1 can become Weapons 2)

    b) Two new modules (so particle cannons if you have the room under weapons, and a med bay. Alternately a linked set like shields which uses up both picks). Remember that for ship modules (like smuggling compartments) you have to have an empty Ship system (see above).

    c) Crew Quality if you pay 4 times the new crew quality in cred. So if you’re going to crew quality 2 you have to cough up 8 cred.

    d) a new crew ability.

  2. Stras Acimovic thanks so much for the reply—I love your game! I found out about it through Friends at the Table and knew I had to try it. My group had so much fun using the starting scenario for the Cerberus.

    So just to clarify: even something like the Med Bay needs a blank system to put it in? Would that go under Hull?

  3. No. Only the ship modules (jump drive, particle cannons etc) need something to go under.

    The auxiliary modules, trainings and the ship modules (so Stun Weapons on the Cerberus) don’t have a pre-req. You can just get them. That med-bay can show up any-time. If your hull rating is low it might be very small (just a table and maybe a tank in the back of a room) but that’s flavor rather than a hard requirement.

    And super glad it’s working for you ^_^ Folks hearing about a game and trying it out and having a good time is the best.

  4. Just to clarify, these options are all on page 51, under Crew Advancement. Remember to also give each crew member Crew Quality + 2 in Stash when you fill the ship’s XP track!
