Can someone point me to any Blades in the Dark resources or articles about the “Ghost Field” and also how the denizens of Duskwall might go about extracting and/or distilling electroplasm from spirits/ghosts/undead?

Thank you! Needed for Smuggler crew operation ideas.

  1. The great beauty of Blades is that these things aren’t defined. Think of the coolest way it could work for you and your group. That is the way it works.

  2. Perhaps they squash ghosts using a small particle of the Sun, and afterwards they squeeze it a little bit (but not fully) with an electrically charged gyroscope.

Perhaps it’s a slow process – they must bottle ghosts, attach a tube to the bottle and slowly wait for the essence to be syphoned. Probably they must enrage the ghost (with specializied alienists able to find their psychological triggers?) in order to make the sublimation process faster.

Or, perhaps, they are held in a container – a cage of howling souls. They periodically fill it with the byproduct of the refinement of leviathan’s blood and wait for the spirits to scream and dissolve. Be careful to remember some wax plug for your ears.

  3. My players make a drug from distilled spirit essence infused into psychedelic mushrooms. They have to force spirits into spirit traps which contain a resonance crystal and the leech has a formula to induct the energy pulling it from the “spirit battery”

  4. Ben Scerri there just seems, within the setting, an implied economic system with spirits and energy outside of the Leviathan harvesting sources. One can’t help but imagine harvesting vast quantities of spirits as energy – but how to gather large numbers and what might be the inherent dangers involved with such endeavors?

  5. Stephen Crutchfield as for dangers of spirit manipulation my players were housing the containment unit in their lair so anyone who spent significant time in the lair (initially the Leech, but with the quarters upgrade all but one) began to hear the whispers of the dead. The Climax of my campaign is actually resulting from a bargain two of my players made with a extremely powerful trapped spirit they stole form another facility. They planned to use it for fuel but kept it for a few sessions, long enough for it to start making big promises…
