Quick Scum and Villainy question: when a ship takes damage to its systems, does that disable any installed modules? Can modules be damaged directly?

  1. Yes. If your engine just took a hit, look at the modules and see how that manifests. Does your jump drive go offline? Is there a fire now in your engine room? If your hull is punctured, are the crew quarters now venting to space? It doesn’t “destroy them” but often they are not in working shape and might need patches or repairs.

The second question: Sure, if you’re on the ship and rolling rig to sabotage something forex? If you just shoot into the module maybe make a fortune roll for the ships rating to see how much you do?

  2. Stras Acimovic Looking back on it, I’m not sure we played it out right. The Pilot was attempting to make a strafing run on a mounted blaster cannon, which was a Desperate position because of their bad Engagement roll. He then rolled a 2, so I assigned them a level 3 harm, which the Pilot resisted. We moved it down the level 2 and decided that their engines had been hit and the hyperdrive was gone too, forcing them to make a crash landing. The Mechanic got back to the ship and got the engines repaired, so they have planetary and sublight thrust available, but the next session was going to be about repairing the hyperdrive and finishing the mission.

Should we just have damaged the engines and left the hyperdrive intact? My reasoning was that they took a bad hit in a Desperate position, so it seemed appropriate to take out both.
