Hacking Blades for a Mythic Approach: Bonus!
Here’s the Sorcerer, which I thought I had already posted, but could not find. Sort of the dark counterpart to the Sage’s sunny disposition.
Now I’m done posting for a bit. Thank you for all of your kind words folks, you’ve lit a fire under my behind to finish this up.
Yay!
This is really marvellous stuff. Thank you for sharing!
can the CURSE’s triggering consequences be resisted? also, what is “much greater effect” than a killing consequence? the wording is unclear.
(also – awsome)
Roe Portal If you mean resisted by the Sorcerer, then yes. The idea was to strike back at the one who wounds the sorcerer, but tenfold.
Example: Weaver, the Sorcerer with the eight-eyed mask is pierced by a brutal bronze dart thrown by Rangda, demon queen of the devouring Leyaks.
Weaver takes the level 3 consequence “gory arterial wound” and pronounces her Curse on Rangda.
Ghostly darts wisped with spider silk rain down from above, either striking Rangda several times (greater effect) or piercing her demonic guards (greater area.)
If the consequence had been death for Weaver, then the Curse could have been death for the guards, or a fate worse than death for Rangda.
If we’re talking about mythology, then there should ALWAYS be a fate worse than death.
Mythic heroes can escape the Underworld, it would require a feat of epic trickery, or battling the guardian of the gates, or a dramatic rescue by their fellow heroes though.
Rangda though? Maybe she’s just erased from memory. Or falling infinitely through the void below the world.
Whew Long response, hope that helps.
Finally read all the Playbooks. Very cool special abilities, wow! Not only the sorcerer but the other ones as well. Cool stuff.
These playbooks are incredible.
BTW is “Hacking Blades for a Mythic Approach” the official name for the hack…? Maybe it’s time for a (working) title? 🙂
