After a bit of playtesting, I’m ready to present my beta draft of “The Messengers”, my “Secret World”-inspired urban fantasy and conspiracy hack of Blades. Comments and critique are welcome!

  1. Kinda surprised you didn’t do more reskinning.

I’m not exactly sure how aggressive the makers of the Secret World’s lawyers are about derivative works but I would hate to see your project hindered in anyway even if it is not currently on their radar…

  2. Omari Brooks Yeah, I probably have some more work to do on that front. The Librarians and Illuminati are probably the closest that hew to their Secret World counterparts. My thinking was that you can’t copywrite “descendents of a knightly order” and/or “the illuminati.”

My goal is to get it to be as far apart as Blades and Dishonored are. Like, the bones of “whalepunk dystopian city with magic and gangs” are still there, the factions have some rough analogues, but Blades doesn’t trip into out-and-out copying.

The “Illuminati”? No, of course not.

    “Templars”? No again.

“The Secret World”? Yes. That’s pretty blatant even if sparsely used.
