  1. Immediate takeaway after scanning the quickstart:

[X] Playing as oppressed dark elf urban revolutionaries worshiping a forbidden goddess

[X] Elaborated drow culture and traditions

[X] Taking the fight to those snooty, arrogant aelfir (high elves) that proclaim themselves rulers of the city

[X] A fleshed out metropolitan city filled with vicious politics, hot-wired arcane technology brought to life by human retro-engineers, and interesting locales such as the smoke-filled murder pit of the Arena in Red Row that runs crimson with rivers of blood, the junkyards of Endline laden with discarded machinery and broken glass, the illicit stalls of Hemlock Fruit Grove that hawk contraband products like corpsefruit and the hypnotic ink of albino cave squid, and the desolate slums and rooftops of Grist where cannibals roam worshiping King Teeth in the dim, sickly mage-lights

[X] Unique classes like Knights of the North Docks, Carrion-Priests, Bound, Idols, Vermissian Sages, and more

  2. I’ve backed it because Grant seems cool, the setting seems cool and it’s super weird in a way that I’m fond of. Some people have compared it to Blades in the comments of the KS, but other than a dystopian setting and PCs that don’t lean towards a good alignment, there aren’t many similarities. There is a pretty good podcast Lets Play by SIX FEATS UNDER I’d recommend listening to if you’re interested.

Having read the QS, I’m not sold on the mechanics, but I’m willing to give them a try once (I biasedly compare pretty much every system unfavorably to Blades these days). I’m very curious to see how character creation works in the full product. Mostly I’m interested in reading the book for setting material to add grist to the mill.

  3. I’m a little biased, because a buddy of mine is a stretch goal on Spire, but I’m really looking forward to getting my mits on it. In general, I’ve been really interested in games about rebellion and underdogs, and this looks like it will scratch that itch pretty well.

  4. Impressed by the setting; incredibly underwhelmed by what I’ve heard about the mechanics during interviews with the creator. Backed it to PDF level so I can mine it for setting inspiration, but I’m skeptical ill ever play it straight.

  5. J Stein I will say that the mechanics seemed fine in the one play I heard, but that was done by the creator and some seasoned rollplayers, which always helps. I do agree that the most likely scenario for me would be to just play Blades in the setting (but what a setting!).
