Is there any guidance on creating Drives and Beliefs for our characters?

Is there any guidance on creating Drives and Beliefs for our characters? I couldn’t find anything in particular in the book. I’m not opposed to making that up out of whole clothe, but if there are suggestions/rules I’d prefer to use those.

  1. The way I do it is that I ask players questions about their character during character creation.

    -Where do they come from?

    -How did they grew up?

    -Where did they work before?

    -Why did they turn to crime?

    -Why is Flint, the Spirit Trafficker your friend?

    -Why are you in bad terms with the Blood Dealer?

    All these types of questions and how the answers interact with each other make for pretty fleshed out characters, enough to play Blades. Ask question, the rest is playing to find out more.
