Mo Money, Mo Problems

I’ve read quite a few Baszo Baz score APs now & I don’t think I’ve yet seen one where our scoundrels have had to contend with the fact that 12 Coin is 12 Load.

That alone might be enough of a difficulty depending on the fictional circumstance (e.g. the rogues have to get the stash out past a really formidable and attentive security detail), but an interesting complication for a heist might be a case where the loot has a 1.5 or even 2-1 Load-to-Coin ratio. Like maybe the loot has to be taken out both surreptitiously and in stages, clocks ticking down all the while. Totally an old school D&D style setup but w/o a Tenser’s Floating Disk spell. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Flashback to spending some of those brand new Coins on a Downtime Asset roll to get some quality thugs you promised a cut of the take, and you’re all set ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. On the one hand, many people are pretty accustomed to hand-waiving encumbrance issues even in dungeoneering games.

But the rules are very simple in Blades and you add some cool tension to people picking their Load for the Score if you remind them that some heist targets are heavy. If they’re going in with 6+ Load all the time, could be they’re not leaving with much…

  3. I had a crew make a get away with 15 or so coin in the form of gallery paintings and statuary. They could have made off with more but stipulations I put on things (two people could easily carry two large paintings each between them but a single person couldn’t handle a large painting alone; one person could carry a bust statue but wouldn’t be able to fight if needed). Not the same thing but a consideration.

  4. In the case of the Baszo Baz stash hit job, the heist target happens to be Coin and the Payout of 4 Coin comes out of the score/ heist target itself.

I half expect the crew tonight to try to keep the whole lot.

  5. Using arcane implements and Attune, push the coins across the Black Mirror. Then have your acquired ghost gang asset carry them to a secure location.

    I fucking love whispers! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. I’d count this as a non issue, as payout typically doesn’t even happen during the action.

If you actually do have to move that much loot following an operation, it’s okay to flashback to acquiring a wagon to move it, and move on to talking about what might complicate the transport of the loot (or just declaring it handled by this)
