Edit: the below is still true, but I’m now a little further in and I’m not sure I can recommend this book.

Edit: the below is still true, but I’m now a little further in and I’m not sure I can recommend this book. I get that it’s meant to be inspired by classic hard boiled detective story, but yeesh some of the racial stuff is tough to get through.

I don’t see it listed in the inspirations, but if someone had told me that Low Town, by Daniel Polansky, had started life at BitD fanfiction, or that Blades had been birthed in an attempt to capture the mood and tone of that novel, I would have believed either.

I’m about an hour into a 10-hour audiobook, and I have already gleaned a substantial amount of inspiration for my BitD game, so I’m hoping that trend continues.
