I love how well the conflict system works for practically any type of conflict, but examples help drive it home 🙂

  1. I’ve inflicted spectral frostbite when our Whisper used a ritual to rip open a tear in the Ghost Field to wrap it around himself as a cloak of invisibility.

More recently, when another characters was attempting to shut down some protective wards around the secret entrance to the lair of the Path of Echoes, they got shocked with electroplasmic energy that gave them a powerful migraine.

  2. Temporal Disalignment (applied when characters try to do anything relying on timing or speed – they have all their agility, and can run or move quickly in the abstract just fine, but interaction is hard; e.g., running through empty warehouse, super fast, running through crowd, no Bueno).

However, I’m finding that many forms of non-physical Harm are better modeled as Complications requiring their own resolution (either by dealing with it very directly, or via a creative long term project). That might be my Fate background peaking through.

  3. First score, as the Whisper I attempted to Attune to the spirits of some Grey Cloaks to get them to hallucinate and give our guys an advantage – I got it, but took level 3 harm, Psychic Backlash for doing so.

  4. “Stoned AF”, level 2. I was gonna do level 3 “Overdose”, but decided to split the difference and deal that Stoned harm and tick an “Addicted” clock.

  5. Our cult was taking a claim* from a rival church and at one point enemies’ patron god appeared to the Leech and its true face literally punched him into brain. It was something like “Result of seeing a god”.

*That mission was one of the most memorable I’ve seen: the cult was trying to lure away church’s parishioners by riding out to its street kitchen and giving away there pastries laced with hallucinogens. Leech’s mind was weakened because he made those buns and accidentally inhaled some of the… ingredients.

  6. Oh, and “distracted by grossness” for a consequence when a Slide was getting beaten by a sweaty, unwashed, perfumed, fat cult leader who was only wearing a silk bathrobe, but the Slide got up in there and deftly planted evidence but touched a little more than he wanted to in the process, without the target’s knowledge. So, yeah, now and then he’d have flashes of memory and related shudders until he healed that up.
