  1. I don’t know Splatoon well enough so couldn’t say.

Sonic Sat AM was a pretty great show. Would take some work to expand it far enough to make it a Blades style game, but if you’re interested, go for it.

  2. Jason Lee

“Were” is pretty apt. Their fate is pretty murky at the moment — there’s been a hiatus of about half a year now — but they’re still the longest running licensed comic book.

Mike Gallagher’s run around 1993 was weird Looney Tunes BS, like the SatAM show and the other cartoon merged.

Ken Penders’s run wanted to be Star Wars instead and gave us this beautiful image: http://thankskenpenders.tumblr.com/post/106747626541/jesus-christ

They only actually got good around 2007, when Ian Flynn took over the writing and they got new artists. From 2007 to 2016 they were actually really damn good and even most of Penders’s terribly executed good ideas got fantastic overhauls and payoff.

If you’re curious, pick up the Sonic Super Digests. They have pretty much all the good stuff from the pre-Flynn runs and a smattering of really good to great stories from the Flynn run. Only problem is, the stories are out of order. Multi-part stories are kept intact though.

To get more of the context, I suggest starting with that blog I linked above. It’s MST3K for the Sonic comics and also the best blog on Tumblr.

  3. This is crazy. I thought it was just a tv show with a great theme tune. Didn’t realise it was a bigger deal. Then I say go for that.

  4. I think I’ll start on Splatoon for now. I need to figure out what it’s really about though. Is the game about the sport or the Octarian invasion? I don’t know yet.
