At least the way I see it, the players know what will happen in general (Scurlock discovers their meddling in his scheme!) but not the specifics (How Scurlock reacts to this knowledge).
Generally, yes. If there is something in the fiction that they’ve triggered that there is no way they could know. You can say “this clock is for stuff you don’t know about yet.” This will probably cause them to find out what that clock is for. You’ll say how do you do it, they’ll pick an action, you’ll set position, and you’re off!
My rule is, if I put a clock down on the table, I will be up front about what it means, how it’s filling up, what happens when it’s filled, etc. I have other clocks like for factions & stuff that exist only in my notes, but when I advance them I describe the effects in the fiction. If they follow up on them I’ll put them out.
Thanks! I have been neglecting these. But I have at least one I am gonna do today. Our gang is at odds with the red sashes and has outright murdered one of them. This session red sashes will join with Foghounds to get vengeance. At start of session I am going to start a play clock…The players are being hunted.
