Curious to hear what other folks have come up with for the Hound’s pet? My player is working on his, and it made me realize there’s a lot of room for some really cool stuff here.

Yah, I mean classing hunting animals like hounds, hunting cats, and birds of prey are obvious choices, but in a city I think are some other really cool possibilities like ferrets, raccoons, monkeys, and of course strange ghost critters! I’d love to hear what people have been doing as well!
Recently played my first game of Blades, and my Hound had a Skovlan snow-bat named Opal as his pet, because bats are cool.
Came in unexpectedly handy when the Tinker flooded our ship with smoke to cover up the gunfight we were having with the Red Sashes. The Sashes are trained to fight in the dark, but because I had the shared-senses version of Ghost Hunter, I could still see everything around me through Opal’s echolocation and was able to fight them on even ground.
Hounds are cool. 🙂
James Etheridge That’s awesome – my player is thinking of a bat-like thing as well! Though he also has an idea for some sort of hunting hound. Not sure what he’ll end up picking 🙂
White tiger rapper style.
For some reason our Cult’s Hound has completely passed on the pet. Reading this thread makes me even more disappointed with his choice.
Mind-linked flying snake
Well… all hounds have a pet, (see their gear) it’s just not a ghost pet unless they take the special ability. So….
I know, but the Hound player looked at the sheet and literally said “Why would I want a pet? I don’t have one.”
I’ve also thought about playing a Hound with a bat, but more like the fox-sized fruit bat with four or five-foot wingspan. They’re adorable, like dogs with wings.
At the table, I’ve seen a lot of birds of prey. Mostly I attribute this to the Hound’s propensity for distance fighting. I think you could make a fine Severosi Ghost Hunter with a ludicrously expensive steed, or a sharpshooter with a tamed, lazy bear to be his “loader”and share his vices (like Wojtek https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojtek_(bear))
Imagine if a hairless lemur was conjoined twins with a fruit bat somehow. At least that’s how I would describe what my Hound player chose.
Someday I will play as a Hound with a Severosi Ghost-eating Horse and will comedically complain in character about the difficulties of keeping a semi-carnivorous Steed in a cramped city.
On a character brainstorming thread here someone suggested a Octopus. You could also have the stealthiest(in a port town) of birds, a seagull, or even better a pelican. You could have a giant spider from the Dagger Isles. If you really want yo be silly, you could get an elephant. On the question of what Iruvian elephants would hunt, the answer is obviously tigers and demons, potentially demon tigers. Snakes could be useful, not only can they bite people but they can be milked for poison.
Justin Ford How many of your Hounds enemies have elected to invest in flamethrowers due to this fact.
+Sean Nittner, your comment about the city got me thinking about rats, but it suddenly struck me you could also play a hound w/ a deathseeker crow who is a former Spirit Warden.
In other news, I hate autocorrect.
The Severosi Hound in my group has a lovable, flea bitten, scabby ghost eating hound names “Good-boy.”
