Curious if anyone has come up with some interesting Iruvian Sword arts? My cutter has the reluctant swordsman thing going on, but neither my GM or I have come up with any good ideas for his style when he inevitably will draw his sword.

  1. To be clear, I like the two in the book. They just don’t fit my character. (Especially since part of the way the game is going is my cutter feuding with the Red Sashes)

  2. Do they have it be Iruvian sword arts? Or just sword arts? Especially if your cutter is feuding with the red sashes maybe the answer is to look for a sword style that’s been used for years against Iruvians. Maybe your cutter ends up relying on their physique and muscle and goes for a skovlan claymore highlander style or something.

  3. I referred to it specifically as an Iruvian art since that is what we see in the pdf, but more importantly the character is Iruvian.

Whatever it ends up being it is something he studied before he abandoned his militaristic religious order and fled Iruvia.

  4. How about a “Blackened Sun Style” Iruvian Art?

[Adept] Ecliptic Defence: You wield a hardened hilt for your blade. When an enemy attacks you in combat whilst your blade is not drawn from it’s hilt, you may employ quick and subtle footwork to evade attacks, and use your hilt as a form of defence or bludgeon in combat. When you defend in this way, choose a beneficial extra effect regardless of the outcome:

    – Your opponent loses his balance, giving you an opportunity to strike (+1 Effect Level)

    – Your opponent loses track of you amidst his flurry of attacks

    – You take advantage of your opponent’s poor positioning (+1 position)

[Master] The Blackened Sun: You wait for your moment to strike and then take it, killing a foe in a single blow. Whilst you are in a Controlled Position with Great Effect, you may forgo your roll to swiftly draw your sword and, in a fluid single blow, strike an enemy as though you rolled a critical success.
