Okay ladies and gents, I’ll be GMing next week and I’m wondering if anyone has any tips for planning a session or general advice? I’ve played within this group as a player, but we’re switching out GM’s so we can all play. Never GM’d before, so I’d be greatful for any advice 🙂

  1. Don’t prep too much. A little is useful though. Think about the story so far and come up with some bullet point ideas for what the various factions and NPCs might be doing. Also come up with a few compelling Devil’s Bargains that are specific to each player. Most Devil’s Bargains will be specific to he situation but it’s interesting to add a few that are more specific to the individual character. For instance if a character has a lover make a Devil’s Bargain that their lover is romanced by a rival from another faction.

  2. This is my personal jam:

    1. Ask questions more often than you give answers.

    2. Keep your GM Sheet out in front of you like it’s your character sheet.

    3. When someone asks you a question, answer it with a GM Action. (Like if they ask even an innocent question like, “What’s the color scheme of the room?”, you can think off-screen and say “Well, (grimace) it used to be green and gold, but this place is wrecked. Fucking pillaged since last time.” or you can telegraph trouble before it strikes and say “Red. Your enemies took this place over. This is Red Sash turf, now. In fact, there’s the sound of cutlery and the smell of Iruvian spices from the kitchen. I’m sorry. What do you do?”)
