Our group is ready to go! They’re looking at Smugglers with more of a “bent scholar” type of angle. With that in mind I’ve been working up some more philosophical NPC’s for them to deal with on the polite side of society.

This got me thinking about Blades, how it feels like a universe that’s a few doors down, and what it would look like for the everyday.

Put those together and you’ve got adesire to do some zoological and botanical plates to get everyone in the mood.

Here’s the first page, if you folks like, I’ll keep posting them as I make them.

  1. Absolutely. The book lists a handful, cabbie goats, spirit crows, etc. Would be fun to extrapolate from there. Our Hound went with a bat version of the peregrine falcon as well, so that’s up soon.

  2. I love this! I would love to see more about the creatures of the Shattered Isles; not necessarily demons or horrors, but natural creatures that just happen to be weird and sometimes dangerous.

  3. +Will Scott Agreed. The more you explain things like horrors and leviathans, the less scary and mysterious they become.

+Galen Pejeau The deathseeker crows and riding goats would definitely be cool to see. Can’t think of any other interesting ideas at the moment, but will come back if I do. Maybe some sort of scavenging pack animal for in the Lost District?

  4. Would love to see some pests that live in the houses and if possible different kinds of vines creeping on the walls. Basically things you can encounter when sneaking in and added danger in burglary.

  5. I would love to see a page about the Ghost Rats, or Unrats as a distinct creature that effect the urban ecosystem in a different way from the living rat, but hell harder to get rid of. Sometimes they gather into the Infamous Underground Unswarms, public spiritual menece that force the spirit wardens to function as pest exterminators.

  6. Thank you for the compliments! Ghosts are a bit out of Guilfoyle’s baliwick, and I agree with keeping them mysterious. Maybe a Whisper’s addendum..

I’ve got a few things in the pipeline, but I’ll try to fit in dogs, pests and weird animals as I go.

After all, the cataclysm is as far away to these folks as the crusades are to us. Life went on, just with a gloss of unlife added..
