An oddity came up recently in starting a new Blades game with one of my groups, due to the extended period over which we’ve made characters and crew.

In the version 5 quickstart rules, the Inspectors, Sparkwrights, and Bluecoats are all one tier lower than they are now in the version 6 rules — is this intentional? Also, the Eels(whom our new crew was going to have a rivalry with) seem to have ceased to exist in the version 6 rules. Was this an intentional removal?

  1. It seems to be absolutely intentional (at least, the raised Tier of Inspectors, Sparkwrights, Bluecoats and the Imperial Army), and I actually think that it was the right thing to do 🙂

About the Eels: I don’t know why (only Jhon knows), but maybe they were removed to make space for the new criminal factions and/or they were lacking distinctiveness.

  2. Keep the Eels if you want them there – I did. Although I imagine it’s what MisterTia86 said already. I can definitely get behind raising the tier of those other guys.

  3. I figured the tier raising was intentional, but might as well ask. 😛 The main reason it matters is that the players picked the Bluecoats as their tier 3 faction to lose status with. I’m having them keep it, however. Should be fun.

I’ll also definitely keep the Eels. If they aren’t distinctive enough, I’ll make them my own brand of distinctive! 😛
