  2. I was really impressed with how cool and different all the characters were. We had a lot of fun describing our backgrounds and contacts and finding out where they all crossed over. We spent a bit over an hour and a half on character creation and intros, which was probably understandable with such a large group.

Planning was pretty crazy. Again, I think, absolutely due to the large group. Also four players had experience with blades in the dark previously.

It took a little while, but we settled on three simultaneous plans; a couple of social plans and a deception plan. Kwill, Haunt, and The Barber played a scene where they were trying to control the streets around a Red Sashes drug den. The whisper and the slide did a few setup moves to get the cutter in and help him intimidate the sashes guards. Everything went smoothly. Meanwhile Bliss and The Scarlet Jackal (aka Lady Modigliana) attended a high society party in which Bliss drugged the party, accidentally overdosing one of the attendees. The Jackal ran distraction while Bliss planted a red sash on the body. Between them they convinced these hight society addicts not to trust the red sashes drug supply, and offered their new establishment as an alternative. Finally, Squeak and The Beak went about gathering info on the red sashes drug supply ring and on the red sashes themselves. This resulted in making contact with the street urchins who works for the sashes and the discovery that the Crows regulated the drug supply to the red sashes.

The final scene consisted in The Barber attending a meeting between Barzso and Lyssa, to see if he could convince them to transfer the supply rights to the Telestic Order. Lyssa killed Barzso and I think set us up with supply (it was getting late).

    Observations:

A large group is tough to pull out of planning and into action, but when we did get going I thought splitting the plans up worked incredibly well. Somebody mentioned “this feels like Oceans Eleven”, which I think means the system was working exceptionally well, even for a large group.

Still getting used to the new consequences rules, but I think they are a great improvement.

John Harper I thought is might be of interest to you 🙂
