What’s the general consensus on firearms technology in Duskwall – matchlocks, flintlocks, revolvers, what? Just curious where most people are falling on the industrial/fantasy spectrum

According to the details in the quickstart, they’re flintlock pistols. Obviously, ya know, individual games may vary — but the default canon is flintlock.
I would like to use those that the guards have in Dishonored but I don’t know much about them.
Scrimshaw flechettes
I’m actually running my game with an early 1900s tech level.
And I thought “scrimshaw” is an artform…
So is assassination!
We imagine flintlocks in my games, generally, but rarely specify the exact details. It’s enough to know that shooting two people quickly requires two guns. 🙂
I plan to do some standard RPG gear porn illustrations for the final book.
Jason Corley If you think so.
To me, the only difference between assassination and murder seems to be the state of mind doing a cowardly deed.
Also the difference between doodling and drawing.
Jason Corley Not all assassination/murder is cowardly. Crimes of passion where that passion is rage aren’t. Premeditated killings, knowing that there’s a chance you’ll be caught and prevented, or caught and punished, aren’t. There’s bravery to it.
And if you’re assassinating an undying, magical tyrant, maybe going by the title of Immortal Emperor, assassination may be an act of immense courage that requires a dedication to doing what’s right even when it’s not popular and not at all safe…
You don’t have to convince me
Ahem. That was to Dominic Niederhoff.
Scrimshaw flechettes! That is awesome. Leviathan bone flechettes with warding runes to tear apart the ghost as well as the body.
I’m thinking a multi-barrel rotating fully auto-magic spirit-laser targeted with caseless leviathan bone hollowpoint slugs. With a cyclic rate of several hundred rounds per minute and an option between a drum mag , or belt-fed via backpack.
… in a 40-watt range.
We’ve had mostly flintlocks, but the finest guns are runelocks. Instead of flint and steel they rely on arcane means to produce a spark. Much more reliable, but you need to keep the electroplasmic reservoirs topped off, have a rune-wright check the plates and reinscribe or replace them regularly, and the guns are prone to picking up infestations of minor spirits.
It costs 4 Coin to fire this weapon….for twelve seconds.
And the name of the weapon is… R.E.A.S.O.N.
WHO TOUCH MY GUN
Alchemy. Don’t forget Alchemy. Mostly the Quicksilver, Sulphur anf Phosphorus types; which after the impact become mere Hg, S and P…
Oh, and nitroplasmics, obtained from electroplasmic soul burning.
