On a tangential note, thank you John Harper for introducing me to The Lies of Locke Lamora.  I’m halfway through and this book is MAGNIFICENT.

For some reason my local library shelves it in general fiction rather than SFF – so I never would have found the book without it being mentioned as an influence on BITD.

  1. Its a really really excellent book. I got it as an audio book (which is lovely btw) and then got a an ARC (advanced reader copy) floating around in the Juneau library bookstore its amazing. Another great series is the First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie… but yeah Locke is too smart for his own good.

  2. Lies is amazing.

Also the First Law trilogy, only book series I recommend where I want to punch every lead character in the face (except maybe the torturer)
