One thing I’m looking forward to in the full book is just how the city manages to deal with all its dead, or perhaps more accurate how well. I mean, I know there are the crematoriums or whatever that incinerate the dead using plasmic oils or whatever, but collecting all the deceased must be quite a chore. I’m sure plenty of them fall through the cracks even without factoring in those who intentionally try to avoid cremation for whatever reason.

The sewers are probably full of spirits from cut-throats and murderers dumping bodies, for example.

  1. I guess it depends on whether the ghost can ID you or not! If it never saw your face it might just rage and rampage instead of trying to hunt you down…

  2. I read Sean Nitter’s Actual Play report today and it features some Whisper NPCs murdering some other NPCs seemingly specifically just to bind/anchor their ghosts for interrogation. Interesting approach.

I was amused at the part where one of the ghosts gets free and possesses the corpse of one of the Whisperers and the player’s reaction to this newly minted Vampire was “eh, free to go I guess”.

The undead are quite “just a fact of life” in the setting and I love it.
