I can’t think of any literary references, but in Mass Effect there was a network of spies lead by the Shadow Broker. They basically stole info to sell/extort.

In the core set, Thieves, using upgrades to take some moves from Hawkers.

No, I’m talking about spies and thieves gaining access to secrets (either through stealing documents, eveasdropping, informants, etc) to sell or use for extortion later
The Breakers will have extortion moves you might want, too.
How easy is it to dip into other crews for abilities? I saw on the crew sheets that there was an ability that let you do so, but is there a limit to how many times you can do this?
By default, you can take two special abilities from other crews. But, of course, if you’re hacking a hybrid thing, you can mix and match how you like.
True, but I tend to want to try the rules out as written before I bodge something together on my own.
