Any inspiration (links, pictures) how the Bluecoats look like? I’m not happy with the classical Englisch Bobby, even in the early version (top hats instead of the modern helmets). In my opionen they should have an official headgear but it should be more brutal/vicious looking. All searches on pinterest and google came up empty, so if one of you have a picture to share I will be grateful.

What do the crows desire as a sacrifice? What do they abhor?”

I added the deathseeker crows as a mayor faction into the life of my Shadow crew, the Black Birds. I plan to use them as Splinter-like wise mentors with maybe a bit of double-crossing.

Which brings my to the quote from the rules above: Do you have some input for me what a crow could expect as sacrifce?

For me they are more spiritual birds, meaning electroplasma or spirit essence would be ok, but maybe I’m missing the cool (= not so obvious) stuff…?

Any input welcome and thanks for your time and effort.

If yes, when?

Question about Resistance Roll:

Question about Resistance Roll:

Question about Resistance Roll:

Is this a success roll like an action roll or do I resist already by stating that I do a resist?

Example: I resist with 2 dice, rolling 1 and 2. I pay 6-2 = 4 stress.

Is the effect resisted or must I roll at least a 4 (= you do it) to make the resist succesful?

Thanks for helping me with that one. I assume that I already did that wrong twice and therefore want to be sure.

Dont you (GM-)guys have a problem with dealing harm all the time?

Dont you (GM-)guys have a problem with dealing harm all the time?

We had a awesome session last night, but in mid-game I changed the rule to one level of harm less than stated in the book. This was because every action brings consequences meaning mostly harm during combat, which means resistance which means stress. Harm means less dice which means worst results which means more harm, more stress.

Yes, we don’t have 6es in every roll, so this is very frequent. After 3-5 actions the players were stressed out on the edge of Trauma which lots of harm, too.

We came to a point where the playses just dont wanted to act anymore to avoid bad consequences.

Don’t get me wrong: Dealing harm is ok/cool, esp. in combat, but the level of harm seems a bit to harsh for me.

This is not making the best of a bad situation but more a full party wipe when more and more PCs are out because of trauma.

How do you guys handle that issue?

Really(!) looking forward to my next Blades session tonight.

Really(!) looking forward to my next Blades session tonight. We’ll see if “The Blackbirds” crew make it back and alive from rescuing the leader of their elite shadow gang, which is a bunch of kids from the local orphanage. 11 years old Hix was snatched by chance by the local The One with Many cult to be feeded to an heavily modified bearlike beast. The show was already in full swing when they crashed the party and set the bear free.

We left our daring crew (Spider, Lurk, Hound) as one of them got trauma due to stress overload while battling a Wisper, while the other ones have still 1-2 stress to burn.

I plan to offer a major “devil’s bargain” to keep them going. Sure thing is, that they won’t be friends with the cult afterwards spoiling the show and hurting some promient guests. Did I mention that the priest is a bit distracted with trying to control the Bear-Thing? Well, that will change afterwards for sure and he may have a lesson to teach…

Just now I’m reading Gamemastering by Brian Jamison (free pdf via http://www.gamemastering.info/ or printed version via amazon). I read halve of the book but this already was more than worth my time. Good tipps and tricks here especially how to flesh out PCs and NPCs (or GCs like Brian calls them). His technic is a bit more like the one already found in Blades and pretty cool I think.

In case you don’t know the book yet, give it a try.
