So I’ve been replaying through the Knife of Dunwall… The meatjack mission has given me much food for thought (pun intended with aplomb!).

The whole leviathan ‘processing’ subplot of the game is so ripe for scoundrel fiction. I’m definitely including the meatjacks as a faction in our game.

What with John Harper’s new building profile art, and me re-playing Dishonoured and Stuart Robertson posting awesome stuff about paper mini ‘Theatre’… https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eKCNNk8TgnE/Vv3BBHL1INI/AAAAAAAABHs/Luoxt5PjVCsCFz8QSLzLnZ7Q9R04sOavw/w812-h834-no/c7f929b8-877a-42e7-b8a8-f58064bced41

I was inspired to try and combine these ideas. So something along the lines of these thugs, turned into paper minis and then using John’s Backdrops to ‘set the scene’ for a score. It may also help in a fictional positioning sense.

Anyways, just ideas. I’ll try and mock something up for Ettin Con.

Damn, but this game is good. Plus, I’m a crap video-gamer and ALWAYS get stuck on mission paradigm games, particularly immersive FP types. Whilst surfing the tubes for guidance and help I came across this AWESOME sequence. It combines stealth, murder, mayhem and attuning in a fast paced steampunk romp across multiple locations.

So freaking watchable.

So on an upcoming 8 hour flight I’m going to indulge in a little solo Blades action, using the quick start random tables for all they are worth and the existing start-up situation. I’ll use a combination of the Die of Fate / Story Dice and the Steampunk Tarot app for inspiration when stuck.

I’m leaning toward the Cult Crew, and 2PCs, as I have GoT Faceless God stuff in my brain, and hope to push the turf claims on the Crew sheet for scores – as they signify pretty well what the Cult Crew is all about.

I have a question though… Crew sheets are listed with 2 upgrade boxes already ticked. The cult for instance has a cohort of Adepts and Resolve Training. Does that mean that Cohort advance (if taken at crew creation) costs only 1 instead of the normal 2 upgrades?

I know its for another totally unique game. But DAMN, all I can see is Blades archetypes. Mr. Gray’s art  is awesome.

Like all *world games, Blades thrives on the ability to ‘barf forth’.

Like all *world games, Blades thrives on the ability to ‘barf forth’. As one is walking backwards facing the players and juggling / passing all the balls thrown their way by the gaggle of supportive players in front of them…

(see Meguey Baker’s excellent article in Improv that elucidates this concept)

The point being, without this wonderful group of folks on G+, I’d never even have a 10th of the inspirational material that fills my brain to barf forth with. All of your wackiness, weirdness, darkness, leviathan-ness. Its all so good.

So thanks everyone, for all the inspiration. All our Blades games are the better for it.

John Harper, could we use something like this for the Crew Claims sheet?

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the graphic design and Layout of the current Claims box, but this seems intriguing somehow, the Hexes giving 6 possible ‘portals’ for each claim. Plus the randomising factor for selecting a particular claim for heists, attacks, consequences etc.

There is also the possibility of having a Doskvol overlay, for particular districts for example. The map faded as an underneath layer.
