Fellow GMs, do you differentiate between a ‘4’ and a ‘5’ result?

I understand both are “you do it, with a consequence”, but do you treat the 4 as a worse consequence than the 5? My interpretation is no, that a 4 or 5 is just as good as each other, but thought I’d see how others ran it, and their experience.

On the same note, do you treat 1s as worse than 3s etc?

Never played, but have read the book back to front.

I’m a GM for D&D 5e so I know what it means to be a good player. Engaged, into the world, let the character take the lead.

I’m also prepping to do my own BitD campaign next year (after my D&D one) so I’m always learning about the world.

Love the narrative and story side of the games.

If you’re looking for a player, let me know 🙂

Who do you use as members of the council?

Who do you use as members of the council?

The NPC’s are listed with surnames (Rowan, Clelland etc.) and are described as “scions of the six most powerful houses”. My question is, would you use the named NPC’s from other factions as members of the council, or another relation?

E.g. Commander Clelland is the Chief of the Bluecoats. Would you make him also a member of the council, or another of his family? Same for Lady Penderyn. She’s a member of the Circle of the Flame – maybe also part of the council?

I can see arguments for both for and against. What are your thoughts?

Thanks all 🙂
